This Hyderabad-Mangalore train is a BIG JOKE by Southern Railway. It is not meant for Mangalore bound passengers. Such a long route.. it is ALMOST touching Chennai on the East coast, then going all the way down to enter middle of Kerala, then rising towards Mangalore on the West coast. This route benefits only the Tamil and Kerala population. Better to have Kerala as final destination for this train than Mangalore. Is Mangalore only for washing and cleaning this train so that people of other states can use? The best route will be Hyderabad to Goa and then Mangalore. Right now there are just 2 sleeper coaches from Hyd to Goa, that too only 4 times a week (also one AC coach, but I am talking of middle class passengers). To get reservation on these coaches is very difficult. Railways can kill two birds with one stone if route is Hyd-Goa-Mangalore....

The distance will be much much shorter and better. Who wants to travel all the way to Chennai and Kerala when they can go to Mangalore via Bangalore or Goa (short routes). Railways should change the routing immediately. Else name the train SabariExpress2 as it is mostly Hyd to Kerala. Please dont use Mangalore name for nothing, people of that region are not fools. Railways, please change routing to Hyd-Goa-Mangalore or Hyd-Bangalore-Mangalore. Thank God, railways did not put the route as Hyd-Delhi-Kolkatta-Mangalore !!!!! I was waiting for this train from years, but I am terribly disappointed with the route... simply waste of precious time of people.

The restriction for the reduced number of trains is not actually the environmental issue. As till now no elephant was found in this area and leopards are running away at flash-point. The real reason for reducing the number of trains(let it be passenger/express or goods train), is the availability of 2 numbers of extra diesel engines at both Subramanya Road and Sakleshpur. As there is only one pair of diesel engines to bring the trains to uphill(Sakleshpur) and down while coming downwards. This is the real reason why the number of trains are restricted. Railways do not want to keep extra locos at this area, as it is limited to only one single pair for pushing the trains up hill from behind. If two trains reach Subrmanya Road to climb the Shiradi Ghat Mountains of Western Ghats en-route Sakleshpur/Hassan/Mysore Bangalore, the second train has to...

wait for atleast 4 hours while the 2 engines come back from Sakleshpur.

Typical "J" form route.. No point in alighting from MAQ to KCG in this route.. Too long .. It is beneficial only for Kerala and Tamilnadu Passengers.
1)I believe Revenue share would be reason behind this long route..SR & SWR will have the share and as of now only 2 rly zones mutually can have revenue share in IR.. am i right?
2) The route of mangalore - goa -hyd as per SR will have less passenger patronage though the route is short compared to the present one.. you know SR is a

typical Passenger revenue not with Freight revenue zone, this might be reason no.2..

These days, every other day, we are getting requests from members to allow email login to their FB-based IRI account. 10 years ago, we had given the option for users to login through FaceBook - in retrospect, this was a mistake. These days, apparently, users are quitting FaceBook in droves because...
