For people travelling from NCB or NOQ to HWH, the quota for these stations gets exhausted too soon.. Changing the boarding point to NBQ and paying 50 extra rupees can often fetch you confirmed seats as there are ample number of seats from the stations in Assam..

Train awesomely maintained with 2014 coaches.. Slow but by early morning rise gives you a splendid experience of the Western Ghats in the dark/semi dark..

Train takes the Howrah Barddhaman Main line route due to congestion in the Chord by Mumbai Mail and Darjeeling Mail, which it follows closely upto Malda Town with Padatik Express just behind. After New Bongaigaon Karmabhoomi Express takes the route via Goalpara Town - Dudhnoi and not Rangiya as mentioned in the time table..

Up train gets delayed by several hours in the winter season.. Better to keep the Howrah Patna option in other trains during the fog seasons.. Down train comes on time, even if delayed due to fog reaches by 15:30 or so.. Food items available are quite good - however biryani is okay to satisfy hunger.. Has a fabulous run if unaffected by fog..
