Catching Hussain sagar at kalyan from Borivali with a travel time of 2 hours: Borivali to andheri local slow or fast-15 min, not much rush at 8.50 pm, go out east side to enter Metro station. Take 20 rs ticket to Ghatkopar-15 min ride with frequency every 10 min. Go down the stairs at Ghatkopar metro station to directly platform 3 to get Fast local to kalyan-36 min, if u have time go to platform 1 for slow local - 56 min. DOnt mind the local ticket if you have ticket from cstm to hyderabad. Only be careful about the rush not peak though. Do not choose this route if you have luggage, single bag can be manageable. this way no need to go to cstm to catch ussain sagar

Hi All, I am back with some experience to share. I have been there and done it all. I.e, Borivali to Andheri and Andheri to Ghatkopar Metro like a breeze. Also picked up the ticket booklets at the station for future use to save time at ticket counters. But what is of concern is the peak hours of north bound train from ghatkopar to kalyan at around 9.30 pm. Any comments how its like at 9.30 pm. Is it manageable to get in and get out safely for some like me who is new to Mumbai local and occasional traveler.

no it is very risky if you have luggage. one sure shot way is stand in front of gate and the rush of the crowd will automatically push you in and out when you want.

Close call.. Sabari runs to time till SRR and delays at SRR for loco reversal.. Netravati is OK with punctuality.. But then if it gets delayed in KR then tuff..

That what is my question? Why WR trains skip Dadar?
It difficult for passenger from central n harbour line to do get down and change local in all that crowd. twice-thrice Hoax calls were made to delay trains.

Only Option is to get down at Borivali and catch a fast train to Andheri.
From Andheri board the metro to Ghatkopar. & from Ghatkopar take the Fast EMU to Kalyan.
This is the only option that you have considering your scenario.

Assuming you have 1.50 mins (shatabdi arriving on time in Borivili), take a call taxi to Kalyan. Will cost you a lot, but still is your best bet to catch the train. Dont try to take the taxi to Thane and then fast train to Kalyan as reaching Thane station from Gorbunder side will take you at least 45 mins.
Edit: Sorry I forgot to mention, that the ahemdabad highway bridge after Mira Road is now one way traffic. you can expect at least 10 mins delay to get into Gorbunder Road from W.E. (unless the old bridge has now been opened)

Seems to be good option. I searched for bus route and found 700 ltd and AS 700 AS reach Thane-E. But not sure of the time it takes until I actually go for it.

Yes escalators are available at Dadar Western(only for ascending).
I think the first bridge towards Matunga Road is the one which has an escalator and is open from 6am to 10pm.

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. .
