Why does 22606 skip Chennai and takes a long winded route to reach Vijayawada and beyond?

Only selected semi-fast trains stop at Matunga (CR) and only slow trains halt at Sion. Why has the railways neglected these two stations since they serve the large population of Dharavi as well? It will immensely help people if fast trains halt at one of these two stations.

Why does Sion (SIN) have 4 platforms? Only 2 platforms are in use for slow trains and fast/semi-fast trains do not stop there. Nobody seems to have an answer, not even railway employees...

I have a query, will appreciate if people can explain. Why do trains passing via Visakhapatnam have a mandatory 20 mins halt for the reversal? Actual halt time at Visakhapatnam is even more.
On the other hand, Himsagar express reverses in Erode and halts for only 5 mins and generally sticks to the schedule. There are many such instances. Any possible reasons?

If I wish to travel between CSMT and Salem, is it possible to buy a through ticket on 22157 (CSMT- MS) arriving MS at 2215 and continue on the same train to Salem (22153, MS- Salem departing MS at 2355, rake share)?
