Hello everyone,
This is my first time on IRI. I'm planning a motorcycle trip across Bhutan in December, and I've narrowed down the train 12509 (SBC to NJP) to transport myself and my friend, and two of our bikes, to New Jalpaiguri Junction. Here's where I need help :
1. Can I transport two bikes (total weight : ~400 kg) on this train from SBC TO NJP?
Is parcel service allowed? If so, what are the rules and cost?
3. If it is allowed, then this is my main problem : the train 12509 reaches NJP at 21.30, and halts for 15 minutes. Will I be able to get the bikes out of the parcel wagon in this time? Will the railway staff be available at this time to assist?
FYI, I'm planning to alight at NJP because it is the closest station to Phuentsholing, the border entry town between India and Bhutan.
Please advise.
Thank you.

For your information Hasimara is the nearest station to Phuentsholling which is 133 km east of NJP...You can book ur bike ex SBC to HSA before or tour commences.. There is no guarantee that if you travel by 12509 or bike will also be transported through the same.Because both the SLRs are already leased to a third party.. So bike will be treated as luggage & luggage cant reach SBC to Siliguri/Hasimara in 48 hrs

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...
