Inaugural running NJP Shatabdi honks at 110+ kmph with a deadly honking Piglet and roaring EOG!!
A few firsts on the Inaugural run of this train!!!
The first Shatabdi Express in India
to be hauled by an EMD for the entire journey.
The first train to be hauled by an EMD at 120- 130 km/hr.
The first inter- state Shatabdi of the country.
The first LHB train to use coaches manufactured by Rae Bareli Coach Factory.
The first LHB Shatabdi of ER and Eastern India.
40045 WDP- 4B of SGUJ shed honks with pride, and blasts past with glory with the inaugural running 12041 Howrah (HWH)- New Jalpaiguri (NJP) SHATABDI Express with brand new LHB coaches. This train would be the fastest connecting train between North Bengal and South Bengal, and would cover the 566 kms journey in 8 hours flat. The closest competitors for this train are the Darjeeling Mail, and Padatik Express, but those two trains take more than 10 hours. The train has been given an extremely aggressive schedule, where it have to maintain an average speed of 70 km/hr even after covering most of the journey through stretches where MPS varies between 90- 110 km/hr with numerous PSRs and TSRs.
The train will depart NJP at 05:35, and reach HWH at 13:35, and would again depart at 14:15, and reach NJP at 22:20. The train would give halts at Bolpur Shantiniketan, Malda Town and Kishanganj stations enroute, and is the first North Bengal- South bengal connecting train to skip Rampurhat.
Location is Begumpur on HB Chord enroute.
Givinge me company on the trip was railfans Rohit Basu, Sayantan Banerjee, Vikramjeet Maitra, Anubhav Bhattacharjee

Very inappropriate time table. It should leave Howrah in Morning so that it can reach njp at afternoon. Passengers will suffer coz they will reach NJP at 10 O clock night.

Absolutely agree very inappropriate timings.....
The train leaves NJP at 5.35, means you have to stay at the station at the night or be within 5kms of NJP. Residents of nearby towns like Jalpaiguri cant avail this train. Again if you reach NJP at 22.20(there must be some late) you get stranded there. No good means of Communication except highly priced cars are available then.
Also a stoppage at Bardhaman Jn is necessary as people from Durgapur and Asansol can also board this train.
doubt how efficient SATSANG(Software Aided Train Scheduling) is.

This timing is better. The reverse wont be good as there wont be too many transport available at NJP at 22.30. The same problem while boarding the train if it leaves NJP early in the morning. Thus this is better.
Still I would prefer this train to run behind 12019 HWH-RNC Shatabdi, leaving HWH at 06.15 or something.

Over night slot is absolutely full........a 7.5 to 8hrs travel time between kolkata and NJP will certainly find passengers in this busy route.

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . -@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...
