लोकसभा अध्यक्ष सुमित्रा महाजन और रेल राज्यमंत्री मनोह सिन्हा के सिग्नल देते ही महू से इंदौर के बीच फिर से ट्रेन चल पड़ी। कई महीनों से बंद इस रेल रूट पर महू से इंदौर जाने वालों के चेहरे फिर खिल उठे। रेल राज्य मंत्री मनोज सिन्हा ने कहा कि सुमित्रा महाजन जी का का निवेदन था और उन्ही के कारण यहां कार्य पूर्ण होगा, नई डेमू ट्रेन का अब इंदौर से महू के लिए 7 फेरे लगाएगी।
पहले मालवा और मध्यप्रदेश की उपेक्षा होती रही है, लेकिन मोदी सरकार ने यहां एक एक अच्छा रेल नेटवर्क देने का प्रयास किया है। आजादी के बाद रेल का नेटवर्क नहीं बढ़ पाया, लेकिन अब इसके नेटवर्क बढ़ाने के प्रयास किए जा रहे हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि 2020 तक ऐसा रेल नेटवर्क बनाएंगे कि सभी को आरक्षित टिकिट मिले। रेल राज्यमंत्री मनोज सिन्हा ने कहा मालगाड़ी का समय भी हम तय करेंगे। पायलेट बेस पर हम 3 मालगाड़ियां समय पर चला रहे हैं।

Indore:Thousands of commuters travelling between Indore and Mhow have a reason to cheer as the Western Railway will resume train service on the newly -laid broad gauge track from June 28.

Train Service was halted in Febuary 7 last year for the work on conversion of meter gauge to broad gauge.

The First train will depart from Ratlam at 5am and reach indore at 7,20am.It will depart from indore at 7.25am and reach Mhow at 8.30am.Three more trains aill go via Indore- One in afternoon at 12.45 pm.other in the evening at 6.05 pm.and the last train at 10.20 pm.

Suresh Prabhu, Minister for Railways, and Prakash Javadekar , minister of state for environment and forests, have been urged to drop the plan to upgrade Akola-Khandwa railway line passing through Melghat Tiger Reserve (MTR).
The Indian Railways had finalized upgradation of 174km Khandwa-Akola railway meter gauge section on South Central Railway (SCR). Of this, Amalakhurd-Akot (77.5km) passes through hilly parts of MTR and its estimated cost is Rs.1,454 Crore.
Former National Board of Wildlife member Kishore Rithe has pointed out that if the railways follow the same alignment and gradient, trains will not run beyond 60 kmph, and also won’t connect villages from Akola, Amravati and Buldhana districts. “Considering both the aspects, people in this region and MTR administration had demanded diversion of this line outside forest area to maximize benefits,” Rithe says.
As per present meter gauge alignment, 25km of the line between Amalakhurd and Akot passes through Wan sanctuary. As additional forest land was also required to take up gauge conversion on this stretch, railways team in 2014 had explored an alternate route outside the sanctuary area. This route bypassing the sanctuary had been planned with the help of Regional Remote Sensing Centre, Nagpur. It would entail abandoning 51km of railway line in the existing alignment and construction of new line over about 80km.
Even as clearance from Railway Board was awaited on the proposed diverted alignment between Amalakhurd to Akot, pressure from local MP Sanjay Dhotre led the railways to decide on using the existing alignment and gradient to upgrade this line.
“We feel that this is neither in the interest of the people from three districts nor forest and wildlife. Existing movement of trains has killed many wild animals and reptiles, specially during monsoon and winter season,” he pointed out.
As this is a remote area, there are several incidents this train route being used to transport forest produce and wildlife derivatives illegally from the forests of MTR. This includes illegal trade of medicinal plants and wildlife derivatives like tiger, leopard skins, bones etc. Besides, regular forest fires happen in summer due to the railway traffic through 17.3km of core area.

Sources said that though the track was ready but platform no.2 and 3 of Mhow station could not be linked to the Khandwa side end. Till completion of this linking work, power (engine) could not be changed from one end to another.
During inspection of Mhow platform on April 7, General Manager of WR GC Agrawal gave an ultimatum to officials to complete the task by May 10. Resultantly, the engineers of the construction department are working overtime to complete the task within the time limit.
The mega block of this section was taken on February 7, 2015 for 6 months for gauge conversion.
But, the GC work was completed on March 5 this year. Before the mega block, over 20 pairs of trains used to run on this section and these trains were useful for commuters of Mhow, Rajendra Nagar and Saify Nagar. After completion of rail linking at Mhow railway station, the railways may resume traffic after May 10.
