No brother. The reservation for local is gaining support now in every state. And it's not wrong. In colleges 80% qouta is reserved for locals students. Why not railways. Every state has enough railway track to accommodate local job aspirants. It's win win for everyone and no one is loosing with this decision.

80% reservation for local can be very easy to implement after 1 state 1 zone policy which is now being demanded by various regional leaders. Orissa cm has officially demanded this to centre as it's in interest of Orissa .

Now every state is waking up to ensure jobs to their local population first. There is no state where unemployment is 0%. Every state is now trying to safeguard jobs and better amenities to its citizen first, some days back there was discussion of new railway zone, special status for AP that is one example of providing more amenities to local population. Is nt it? Same special status Bihar is also demanding.

Since decades Central govt has developed only few states and majority of India is underdeveloped. Because of this Central govt and underdeveloped states are banking on few developed cities/ states for jobs. That can be avoided if we include state wide qouta and because of this underdeveloped states will have no option but to develop to provide jobs to their citizens. This will remove descrimination. This is what called healthy competition between states. Look how states are inviting investment making their own brands. It's about uniform developement across India. And encouraging under developed states an opportunity to develop. Off course we are all indian without doubt but using this excuse every time to oppose reform is not good.

With this qouta system railways will be aligned to population ratio. If you are saying MH and KA don't have railway routes comparable to state population you are right but demands are mostly coming from these states only. In this forum too mostly MH and KA members voted yes as they think they are not represented well.
I am happy that you support it if quata is around 50-60%. The support of states aligned railways is increasing now. I am hoping in 5-10 years railways have to aliged it with respect to state, that will be win win situation for passengers and railways. When railways was started in India it was aligned with administrative region.

State aligned railways and railway jobs will be good for every state. Except JK, every state has good railway network. JK can be adjusted in 20% quata. After state aligned railways it's jobs will be like state govt jobs, reserved for locals. Hopefully we can imagine it once state aligned railway zones are created.

In MH there is no positive view of bullet train to Ahmedabad. The more they showcase more seats they will loose.
