But I wonder how it could be possible as ERS-SRR now runs with end to end electric loco.
Only 56362/56363 ERS-NIL passenger runs with end to end diesel loco. But 56363 uses the same rake of 56386 KTYM-ERS passenger which runs with an electric loco.Hence there will be practical difficulties.

The CHTS-ERS line runs in close vicinity with naval airport(earlier it used to be a civil domestic airport) and aircrafts fly at low altitude at this area, and hence OHEs cannot be erected. This is what the navy says.

there has been varied media reports about it. Some report that the navy had given permission, but then the brigde could not support electrification. Some say the e bridge so damaged so the permission "lapsed" others report the navy had never granted permission because it is too close to the landing funnel

One Major problem with this train is that it does not stop at AWY. Most migrant workers coming to Kerala are centered around AWY.You will see big crowds at AWY when any train bound to SHM/GHY arrives and this train is doing a big crime to those people by skipping AWY.

Yes Kerala can byepass ERS and go via ERN saving a huge amount of running time. But it is not practical to do so with Venad Express bcoz a huge lot of daily passengers depend on Venad express. Most offices/schools/colleges are located in close proximity to ERS than ERN.Hence daily passengers will find it easy to board train from ERS.Also it is to be noted that a passenger train from ERS via KTYM is available only at 18.30 in the evening. Once Venad started to skip ERS and go directly to ERN. There was a huge protest from daily passengers. Many passengers including ladies started to jump from a moving train at Ernakulam C Cabin which is the deviation to ERS and ERN and many accidents were reported. Then Venad was again reinstated to its old schedule.

As of now there is too much slack given for Venad right from its arrival at Aluva and departure from ERS after loco reversal. Maybe it can have a delayed start from SRR so that overall travel time is reduced

Any experienced/knowledgeable people please solve my doubts:
1. What is the procedure to take a season ticket(monthly pass) in Indian Railways?
2. Is any form needed to avail this pass?? If yes where will I get the forms??
3. Which counter should I approach to get this season ticket??-PRS or UTS??
4.
...
How is the fare calculated for this monthly pass??? (Suppose oneway UR ticket from station A to B costs Rs.40/- in a Mail/Exp train..What would be the fare for the monthly pass??)

Hi,
I am updating my experience so that it may be helpful to others in future :)
*First I went to the unreserved ticket counter(UTS) of my railway station and informed the booking clerk that I need a season ticket.
*He asked me whether I am taking it for the first time and I said yes.
*He
...
then gave me a form in which I need to fill my personal details like name, father's name, address, phone no, ID card type and no(like voter's ID, PAN, Aadhar,Passport etc), purpose of travel etc. and sign the declaration that we will follow the rules set by railways.
*We need to submit this form, one passport size photograph and a photocopy of the ID card which we mentioned in this form.
*He then gave me an identity card which contains a unique number and pasted my photograph on it and put the rubber stamp of the Chief Booking Supervisor across the photograph. Re.1/-(One Rupee only) will be charged for this identity card and its valid for 7 years.
*He then gave me the monthly season pass by paying the requisite amount. Please note that the unique number of the identity card issued will be mentioned in our season pass. The season pass is valid only if it is produced with the unique ID card issued by railways, otherwise the passenger will be treated as travelling without ticket.
*Also note that we need to put our signature both on the ID card and the season pass, otherwise the passenger will be treated as travelling without ticket.

One last doubt. Is to and fro journey permitted using a single season ticket or separate tickets are to be taken in each direction?
