Dear #moderator / #admin,
Thank you for allowing me to join the JP RF Club, and the Div, Zonal ones along with it.
Additionally, I cannot create imaginary train, is that something that needs to have the #moderator's / #admin's permission as well? If so, please enable/unlock the imaginary train feature on my profile.
Thank You!

Connectivity between two "Tier - 2" cities tends to lag behind the connectivity of a Tier-2 city to a big city. I understand the need for, lets say, JP and BCT to have good connectivity... but the connectivity/service between, say, JP and LKO/LJN (two Tier-2 cities) tends to lag far behind and needs attention.
Currently there is not even a single superfast train between JP and LKO/LJN. Marudhar Exp from JP reaches LKO at almost 3 am!! The JP - LJN Express from LKO reaches JP at almost 2 am!! No train connecting JP or LKO to BCT/CSTM would arrive at such hours... additionally, both Marudhar and JP - LJN spend an eternity at CNB (possibly because of trains to the
...
big cities of NDLS and HWH )... additionally the JP - LJN Express has a 25 min halt at Achhnera (AH) for reversal of direction... while the JP - BCT Superfast manages a reversal of direction in 10 min at SWM.
Depending on which route the train takes, the distance between JP and LKO is on an average around 600 kms.. and if the train runs on time (extremely rare) it take about 12 hrs to complete the journey. Marudhar takes about 11 hrs (as per the schedule) and JP - LJN takes 13.5 hrs (has a longer route) and both trains are almost always late. It might not be a fair comparison... but 12955 JP - BCT Superfast travels almost twice the distance (1160 kms) in only 6 additional hours (17h 50min). It should also be noted that while both Jaipur and Lucknow have many flights to and from Mumbai, but there are no flights between the two Tier - 2 cities, making railway services even more important for connecting JP and LKO.
I have used JP and LKO as examples of two Tier - 2 cities here, but many such cases exist across the country. Improving connectivity between Tier - 2 cities is extremely important in my view for a better and more uniform development of the country... a handful of big cities should not, and cannot be burdened beyond a limit... that is not good for those cities, and for the country as a whole.

That is my point... that even though Patna might have good connectivity to the big cities... connection to other tier-2 cities is likely to be not as good... even when LKO is closer to PNBE than big cities like NDLS or CSTM...

Ya I know what you mean... and I take your point there... a lot of trains from the east (east of JP) do reach JP really late at night... while trains from Mumbai, Chennai, Bengaluru etc reach JP during the day time (6am - 7pm) ... so perhaps there is some sort of a slotting being done... I just tried to use JP and LKO as an example... one could come up with other sets of cities... JP and LKO are interesting coz the distance between the two (600 kms) is neither very small, nor very large... the distance is long enough that not everyone would be interested in driving... train seems more comfortable... and it is not so far away that JP and LKO would have very little contact with each other...

- JP - AF Shatabdi is largely for tourists I feel... it runs almost empty during regular time... its occupancy increases only during summer vacations or tourist season from Oct - Mar...
- Most people who commute between Agra and Jaipur prefer to drive since the distance is around 250 kms and the road is quite good (at least it was 2 yrs ago)
- This train should be extended to LKO/LJN... and so the train would be JP - LKO/LJN with stops at AF, CNB... I don't know why they
...

wouldn't consider it.
- There was even news of extending LJN - ANVT Double Decker to JP... donno what happened to that... although that might have been tiring for ppl to be sitting in the DD for more than 12 hrs from LJN to JP via ANVT... I guess there are some rules that require a journey of more than 10 or 12 hrs to have sleeper coaches... that's why Rajdhanis have sleeper coaches while Shatabdis are sitting.

@1716954-8  @guest
haha... I understand why you disagree... and yes, perhaps that is the way things should happen that trains should get a good slot by their importance...
- if you observe the arrivals schedule at JP, then you will notice that for some reason, trains like HWH - JU SFast reach JP after midnight... and I would like to think that 12307 is an imp train... what you will also notice is that there are no trains arriving at JP from BCT, MAS, SBC at such late times in the night (in fact after 7pm)... These are just observations.. I do not know if there is really a policy of giving slots to trains from different places/zones etc.
-
...
What I feel is that when a timetable is planned, the people consider the timings at the source and the final destinations... and so a train like 12307 HWH - JU SFast reaches JU at 6:35 am... and it is then simply incidental that it reaches JP 6 hrs prior to that, which happens to be 35 min after midnight... for this train to reach JP before midnight, it would either mean starting it from HWH at a time slot which perhaps is unavailable, or making it reach JU at 3 or 4 am...
- You see a similar thing with the 12957/8 ADI Rajdhani where the timetable seems to be designed keeping in mind ADI and NDLS and so even when the train is an important one and should get a good slot at JP... it reaches JP after midnight in both directions (2:45 am for 12957 and 12:20 am for 12958)
- And so I am not sure how trains get the slots that they get...

- In my original post I had used the connectivity between JP and LKO as an example, and I was quite sure that there would be many other cases across the country where the connection between two Tier-2 cities needs attention and improvement. I Thank You for providing the example of Ranchi and its appalling connectivity to other cities, esp Tier-2 cities... this is quite sad indeed
- People go to big cities because they believe that there are large number of opportunities there... and so the connectivity to Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai... and lately to Bengaluru and Hyderabad gets prioritized... but anyone from Bhopal wanting to explore the potentials of Ranchi, or anyone from Ranchi exploring potentials in Lucknow will
...
get discouraged if the modes of transportation are poor (in Ranchi's case, non-existing)... and so people then pile on to the big cities... and so more trains have to be started... and this becomes a vicious circle... where the big cities get overburdened from people from all across the country and the smaller cities being less interconnected...
