It will not get lhb for next 7 years. Even if it get lhb Trivandrum division of SR will not be able to maintain it properly. For Tamilnadu express mostly coaches are recently bulit and not earlier than 2007, whereas kerala uses coaches made of 1990, 1991, 92 and 93

This train is of no use for passengers from Kerala. Either convert it to superfast or to an all ac with pantry and limited stops. if IR want to continue it as Duronto, please reduce the running time by minimum 3 hrs.

My complaint to IR:

Dear Sir,
Through this Grievance Redressal Forum, I wish to draw your attention to the absurd timings of 12432 H. Nizamuddin (NZM) - Trivandrum (TVC) Rajdhani Express. As of now, it departs NZM at 11.00 hours to arrive at TVC at around 09.30 am on the third day during monsoon and 05.30 am on the third day, at other times. As a result, it has to travel through the state of Kerala in the wee hours of the night. As a result many passengers, especially those travelling to Northern Kerala stand inconvenienced.
2. Moreover, this train needs to be speeded up as it is the premier train of
...

the nation, besides increasing the frequency of this train to daily due to high demand for this train which is the fastest connector from Kerala to the capital.
3. Accordingly, I like to propose new timings for this train as under:
H. Nizamuddin ------- 19:15(D)
Kota Jn. 23:50(A) 0:00(D)
Vadodara Jn. 6:05(A) 6:15(D)
Vasai road 11:00(A) 11:05(D)
Panvel 12:20(A) 12:25(D)
Madgaon 20:00(A) 20:10(D)
Mangalore Jn. 0:45(A) 0:50(D)
Kozhikode 4:20(A) 4:30(D)
Ernakulam Jn. 7:45(A) 7:50(D)
Trivandrum Ctrl 11:30(A)  -------
The following will be the benefits from the proposed run:
a. Convenient Timings.
b. Faster run during night time.
c. Entering Kerala at early dawn so that it reaches the capital before noon. This may also lead to increased patronage between Kozhikode / Ernakulam to Trivandrum.
d. During Monsoons it can leave H. Nizamuddin at 17:00 hours so that it reaches Mangalore by 0:45 hrs.
4. In the similar manner, 12431 Trivandrum H. Nizamuddin Rajdhani can be speeded up by around 3.5 hours during Monsoons and around 2 hours during non monsoon.
I request you to kindly consider the same in light of above and do the needful.

The following details with respect to 12432 had earlier posted in another blog related to Indian Railway and received valuable opinions and comments from the co-bloggers. I reproduce the same post in verbatim herein for initiating a discussion in this blog.
NZM – Panvel
By speeding up and giving topmost priority the 12432 can reduce the running time from NZM to Panavel by minimum one hour from existing running time of 18 hrs 5 minutes to 17 hrs. Please note that 12951 (Mum Raj) is covering almost the same distance in 16 hrs 5 minutes and 12954 (AK Raj) is taking 17 hrs and 22210 (BCT Duronto) is taking 16 hrs 15 minutes. Since 12432 also running with LHB bogies and also hauled mostly by WAP-5 and occasionally by WAP-7 Locos

and having less stoppages reducing the running time realistically to 16 hrs 45 minutes is not difficult.
Panvel – Mangalore
From Panavel to Mangalore especially during non monsoon period the running time can be reduced. It is shocking to find that 12432 and 12978(Marusagar Express) takes exactly same 15 hrs 30 minutes to cover the distance. It is clear that, if an express train with normal bogies can cover the distance as same as that of 12432, it will not be difficult to reduce the running time of 12432 in this stretch by 45 -50 minutes especially during the non monsoon period.
Mangalore- Kozhikode (Calicut)
12432 takes 3 hrs 38 minutes to cover this section. However, normal express trains like 12654 (Tiruchi express) and 22609 (Intercity Express) takes only 3 hrs 30 minutes to cover this section. Since the existing running time from Mangalore to Kozhikode was set up way beck in 1998, when the whole section was single, now the whole section is doubled and the electrification work is in progress. Running time can be reduced by another 35 minutes in this section alone.
Kozhikode (Calicut) – Shornur JN
Alloted running time of 12432 in this section is 1 hr 40 minutes. Whereas many express trains cover this section with taking less time. 22609 (Intercity Express) takes 1 hr 25 minutes to cover this section. Whereas 12081 (JanShadabdi) and 12075 (Janshadabdi) and 16856 (Puducherry express) takes 1 hr 30 minutes. 12654 (Tiruchi express) and 16687 (Navyug Express) cover this section by taking only 1 hr 35 minutes. The existing running time from Kozhikode to Shornur was set up way beck in 1998, when the whole section was single, now the whole section is doubled and the electrification work is in progress. Running time can be reduced by another 25 minutes in this section alone.
Shornur JN- Ernakulam JN
Thiruvananthapuram Raj Express takes 2 hrs 30 minutes to cover this section during night time. Whereas 12081 (JanShadabdi) takes 1 hr 50 minutes during daytime to cover the same section with normal ICF Bogies. 19260 (BVC Kochuveli express), 16333 (VRVL TVC express) and 16335 (Nagarkovil express) takes 1 hr 55 minutes. 16311 (Bikaner- KCVL), 16344 (Amrita) and 16350 (Rajya rani) takes 2 hrs to cover. 12075 (janshadabdi), 16603 (Maveli), 16630 (Malabar) takes 2 hrs 5 minutes to cover the section. 16337 (okha) and 06303 (Nagarkovil) takes 2 hrs 10 minutes. 16345 (Netravati) and 16649 (Parasuram) takes 2 hrs 15 min. 16605 (Ernad express) 16348 TVC express and 12201 Kochveli Garib Rath takes 2 hrs 20 Min. 16327 Korba TVC Express and 12288 DDN KCVL Express takes 2 hrs 25 min. hence running time can be reduced by 40 minutes.
Ernakulam Jn – Thiruvananthapuram.
12432 consume 4 hrs 25 min to cover the last strech from Ernakulam to Trivandrum. Train No. 22619 BSP –Ten takes only 4 hrs and 16325 (Ahalyanagari Express takes 4 hrs 10 Min 16631 TVC Express 4 Hrs 15 Min and 16128 express takes only 4 hrs 20 min to cover this section. Since 12432 passes this section during midnight and early morning and can reduce the running time to 3 hrs 50 min and save another 35 minutes from the existing running time.
Hence, my suggestion is if the Northern Railway decides to fine tune the existing timetable of this train, the overall the running time of this train can be reduced by a minimum of 4 hrs 30 minutes in down direction.
I look forward for reasonable thoughts and suggestions from co-bloggers.

Agreed that for a prestigious train like Rajdhani, there is an urgent need to reduce running time by 4 hours in monsoon and min 6 hours during non monsoon (both ways).

However, writing to Northern railways will not be useful as I have already received a reply that this Raj covers just 53 kms in their zone. It will be better is this suggestion is put to all zonal railways through which it passes. I have done so earlier and waiting 4 replies.

Thank you for providing the e-mail- contacts. With the present schedule, it will be difficult to speed up this train. It is better to change the departure time from NZM after 7 PM. By increasing the speed, the train can reach Trivandrum by 11 AM a day after the departure by consuming approximately 40 Hrs.
Return journey from Trivandrum can also adjusted accordingly atleast during Non Monsoon timetable.

Instead of diverting this train through coimbatore, it is always better to start a new rajadani service from NZM to TVC through Erode coimbatore route with different timings and different rakes may be for 2 services a week. Now SWR has taken responsibility of Bangalore rajdhani likewise SR can start and handle the new service. Now the availability of LHB rakes have increased, it will not be difficult to start new service which can even announce in the coming rail budget. I am sure, that service will be hit from day one on wards.

Today, i noticed an astonishing fact that this super crawler Duronto is slower than Maharastra Sampark Kranti Express 12908 between Nizamudin and Mumbai. For the fellow bloggers information, both follows the same time slot in this route, but slower by almost 45 minutes to one hour. Further this train also slower than 12223 Mumbai LTT- ERS route. Therefore, I do not think it will be difficult for IR to reduce the running time of this service by at least 2 to 2.30 Hrs from the current running time. Look forward to receive comments from other bloggers.

This Duronto is also wasting too much of diesel (Leading a big LOSS to IR)

So we had recommended IR to increase the speed of this train and run it through the fully electrified route as stated below

It is possible to reduce the running time of this train without changing its present route. Since there is no commercial stoppages, it can divert through the Kerala route without touching Coimbatore. End to end WAP 7 or WAP 5 loco usage will certainly reduce drastically the running time in the new route

I was just analyzing the journey run of this train.

1. I notice that this train takes same time to reach from TVC to MAJN both during monsoon & non monsoon. It is shocking to discover that it covers this stretch at an avg speed of 59kmph much below the avg speed of other Rajs. If it runs at min. of 80 kmph in Kerala state alone, it would reduce travel time by minimum of 2.5 hours. This stretch has double lines which can withstand 110kmph, so attaining 80kmph should not be a problem.

2. The Avg speed of the train in Monsoon at present between PNVLto NZM is 68 kmph
...
when 12951 BCT Raj attains 90 kmph avg. Thus another couple of hours can be saved if its runs at min 90 kmph.

3.PNVL – BSR is now fully AC section. GOC WDP 3 can be replaced with WAP 5 /7 at PNVL itself to make it run faster in PNVL – BRC stretch.
Same goes for the pair train 12432. If the above is taken care, only then will it become a premier Raj train of Kerala.

further to my earlier blogs, IR should change the route of this train through nagpur and AP, which is the shortest fully electrified. If IR allot a WAP 5 loco, it can easily reach ERS within 36-37 hrs through this route. Since most of the offices in delhi is closed on sat and sun, this train will get god response id it change its days of operation to start from nizamuddin on friday 9.30 pm through the new route.

It is convenient to chnage the days of operation of this train . Better to start on fridays from nizamuddin instead of saturdays. This will attract more passengers to thsi train. Also my suggestion is to increase the speed of this train a bit by which it should reach ernakulam by 10 am in the morning

The Idea is good as let the train depart from NZM on fridays 21.30 and reaching ERS on Sundays and let the same depart from ERS on Mondays at the same time(23:30hrs, passangers from ktym and Allpy can reach ERS by vanchi nad or TVC Guruvayoor intercity)
reaching ERS in 10:00 will be difficult as the train got a rake of AC and sleeper mixed as the max speed for hybrid LHB rake is only 120kmph and in KR in most places Max speed is 90kmph, Rajadani with LHB rakes is taking almost 41 hrs to reach ERS.

except during monsoon timetable KR have the track capacity to run at 120 km. now the doubling of manglore-shornur line is lmost completed, reaching ernakulam at 10 am is not possible but 11.30am is possible. Also note that this train is travelling the same strech from NZM to Mumbai where mumbai rajahani is travelling. so except the mumbai urban and surrounding areas, surely this train can increase its speed. further, max speed of hybrid LHB coaches is 130 Kms. Hence it is worthwhile to increase the speed and change the departure day from Nizzamudin.
