Re# 756597-5
Ya its running, Nizamabad is the most fertile district of teangana with the maximum Paddy and sugarcane output hence a decent growth and lot of traffic, but in the initial days after GC between SC and NZB there were not many trains, so SCR started a DEMU intially from SCjn departed at about 04:50 before SC-MMR passenger departure(it used to start from SC back then). The SC-NZB rake was surprisingly a DHMU rake of three coaches, although the name was a passenger the service was express with stops only at MJF,BMO,MED,WDR,MZL,AKE and KMC before NZB.
.
Its all straight till now, but here is the twist the train arrival time to KMC was around 07:10 and departure around 07:40 to NZB with a different train number, even though its unofficially SC-NZB passenger,
...
due to operational reasons(distance restriction on trains without toilet and other issues) the train used to run with a gap of 30 mins with a different train number from KMC-NZB again a passenger but no stops anywhere between KMC-NZB. Imagine, that too with a 3 coacher DHMU!!
.
The same rake used to run between NZB-KMC-NZB departing NZB around 10:30, stopping at all stations enroute..Return to NZB by 1400 and again depart to SC at 1830 after NED-VSKP/SBP express departs from NZB(then originating at NZB).. This again had a 20 min stop at KMC before finally reaching SC at around 2230.
.
Following the huge rush and no train between NZB-SC after devagiri departs around 1100 till MMR-SC Pass at 1700 odd, SCR started another DHMU express between KCG and NZB which too unfortunately had this strange long stoppage at KMC, this time for crossing Devagiri express. It used to arrive at KMC from KCG around 12:00 and wait for SC devagiri and depart at about 12:20, in the return direction it used to depart NZB at 14:20 and wait for CSTM devagiri from 15:10-15:30 and reach KCG at 1820. This rake was facing heavy rush issues as this was an ideal connection between SC-NZB ending up at a point with people hanging out of all three coaches of the DHMU. Following a death and an accidnt to the DHMU at Dabilpur(between Manoharabad-Medchal) where the total power car burnt off this was changed to a conventional ICF rake with a WDM-2/3D and 4 coaches, then increased to five later but the rush continued.
.
These two pairs of DHMU's did a great job in this stretch as passenger and express, people were obviously onfused at NZB with two DHMU's(the incoming KCG one and the parked SC-KMC-NZB one) at NZB. Finally a couple of years ago two pairs of DEMU's have been announced between KCG-NZB one in the timing of the erstwhile DHMU. The SC-KMC-NZB DHMU was discontinued and a new conventional coaching rake between KCG-KMC-NZB-KMC-NZB-KMC-KCG began of which i gave the link in my earlier post. This is the DHMU story of SC/KCG-NZB :)
.
P.S: as a final weird appearance i spotted another 3 coacher DHMU in NZB in the noon after all DHMU's were replaced in this route recently. COnfused about its presence, will try to figure out what it is next time i visit!!

GY-KCG is not being doubled right now..The idea is basically to double and electrify RU-DD, Doubling is already complete except in patches and electrification is complete till Kamalapuram i guess..We can expect trains running with WAP-4 right from MAS to GTL hopefully by this year end.
.
GY-SBC is also being electrified with an idea of electric connectivity to SBC once GTL-PUNE is electrified too. Both the projects are by RVNL.
.
Land Acquisition has been completed and construction commenced for Electric Trip SHed/Electric Loco Shed at GTL to facilitate GTL-SBC and GTL-RU routes..

Muddanuru-Tadipatri must have been live too and some info seen that GY Substation has been energized last week(not sure)..GTL electric trip shed is in active progress too..WAP's at GTL are not far away :)

very sad about the news and i dont think there is any need to cancel any train whatsoever in any stretch of India, rather increase the gangs and beats for better maintenance.. When Japanese the 10th most populous can run a shinkansean every 5 minutes with speeds above 250 KMPH in the world's most earthquake prone country, why cant we!!

Lack of proper utilization of funds would probably be a better word sir, anyway railways prioritize P.Way maintenance over anything else!! Funds should not be a problem to maintain existing P.Way if the particular zone wants to do it like SCR does at Ramagundam and singareni colleries stretch, maintains P.Way absolutely well with heavy coal freight traffic 27x7x365!!

Re# 752372-14
I didnt compare singareni with Raniganj or any coal mine with any other for that matter.. My comparison was only with the railways, if you look at the traffic Singareni-Dornakal-KZJ/SC-WADI-Raichur and KZJ-Ramagundam.. This also serves NTPC Ramagundam, Parli Thermal power station, Raichur Thermal power station and Vijayawada Thermal power station besides being on the largest North-South Corridor(ie between BZA-KZJ-SKZR) and being a double line only which almost always is full of other goods rakes and the high passenger traffic. This is only for a justification, i didnt mean to compare these anyway.
.
My point is, come what may if the Zone wants to maintain the P.Way properly, they definitely can.

I have been to most of the states in India except J&K,Arunachal Pradesh,Mizoram,Manipur,Nagaland and Tripura and I can say public transportation is pretty pathetic in most of the places except TN and Karnataka. This is my personal opinion. Even the so called developed states like Punjab,Haryana,Gujarat etc their public buses are a real horror story.

** DUAL CAB, UNLIMITED PLEASURE – THE 40105 GOC WDP-4D STORY!! **
.
Baatein Bhool Jaati Hain
Yaadein Yaad Aati Hain
Yeh Yaadein Kisi Dil-O-Jaanam Ke
Chale Jaane ke Baad Aati Hain
Yaadein…Yaadein…Yaadein……
.
As I hum these Hariharan sung lines from the 2001 Hrithik Roshan and Kareena Kapoor starrer “Yaadein”, there rises a feeling of excitement and contentment within me. I get goosebumps with excitement, the reason being a few admins of IRI including myself have witnessed

the BIRTH of this Loco at DLW, Varanasi and contentment because the dream of getting into the cab of a live loco has been realized.
.
Let us all relive those golden moments at DLW. It was 4th March 2013 when 10 admins of IRI namely PKV Sir, Sabyasachi Ghosh, Dipyaman Basu, Sourabh Bardhan, Broad Gauge, Wrik Sarkar, Arkya Chatterjee, Pramodh Kommattil, Tejas Shekhar and Yours’ Truly Soumitra Chawathe assembled into the Holy City of Varanasi to get a first hand experience at the birthplace of diesel locos, viz. the DIESEL LOCOMOTIVE WORKS. It was an industrial visit to understand the nitty-gritty of what goes on inside DLW and how the diesel beauties are manufactured.
.
Guided by Mr. B.K. Mukherjee, Senior Publicity Inspector, we roamed around the three sections, namely Engine Division, Block Division and Loco Division only awe-struck on seeing all the facilities. It was truly a TRIP TO THE HEAVEN for railfans!!
.
Last but not the least, we were taken to FINAL LOCO INSPECTION AREA. It was a sight to behold!!
New Born Babies of DLW undergoing testing and waiting to unleash their power on the tracks!! Yes, we are talking about FINISHED LOCOS! We made the following spottings:
> 40105 WDP 4D, a stunning beauty
> Triplets - BED-30 6503 / 6504 / 6505 BR (For Bangladesh Railways – similar to our WDM-3D with side railings. Locos in Bangladesh have THREE MARKER LIGHTS - Red, Yellow and Green)
> 12749, 12750, 12761 WDG-4s
> Utkal Express WDG-3A (Industrial Loco)
.
A FEELING OF ECSTASY:
.
As we were having a closer look and admiring these beauties, Mr. Mukherjee said something which was like a MANNA FROM THE HEAVENS. He asked us to climb to the cab of 40105 WDP-4D, which was being TESTED LIVE!! What a feeling it was, cannot describe in words, a dream come true to get inside a cab of WDP-4D!! Our happiness knew no bounds, one by one we climbed and took turns to sit on the LP’s / ALP’s seat! The SHF and LHF views were spectacular!! The golden moment was when the persons who were dong the testing NOTCHED UP and the buzzing sounds of EMD Beast from inside the cabs were truly out of this world! After cherishing these moments, we came down and that marked the end of our factory visit.
.
ACKNOWLEDGEMENT:
.
On behalf of all the participants, I would like to thank Shri PKV Sir, whose tireless efforts and co-ordination made this once in a lifetime experience possible for us. Last but not the least, our sincere Thanks to Moderator Sir for providing this wonderful platform called IRI, without which this visit would have still remained a DREAM.
.
Long Live Indian Railways, Long Live IRI!!
