From 10th Feb 2014 the Northern Railways make a stoppage of 1 min in Phagwara for 12412 and 12411 train. Cheers!
This will be beneficial for the area of Phagwara, LPU, District Hoshiarpur, Goraya and also beneficial for the revenue of Indian Railways.

Srinagar: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Monday will inaugurate the 25-km long Udhampur-Katra rail link in Jammu. Railways will open the 25-km-long link after the Prime Minister flags off the first train from the Katra station. The train service to Katra, is the base camp for pilgrims going to Vaishnodevi shrine. The train connectivity to Katra is part of the ambitious Kashmir rail link project and has been executed at an estimated cost of Rs 1,050 crore. The 25-km stretch to Katra is an engineering marvel as the route has seven tunnels, 29 minor and nine major bridges with some of the bridges as high as 85 metres. "It was a challenging task to construct tunnels, bridges and lay track in that difficult terrain. We have to ensure safety of passengers," the chairman said. To begin with, two trains -- Delhi-Katra Express and Kalka-Katra Express - will run on the section....

IRCTC LAUNCHES E-WALLET
IRCTC has launched e-wallet: a rolling deposit scheme wherein the customers will have an account with the IRCTC and deposit money to be used for booking e-tickets on irctc.co.in. Currently, one has to make the payment via credit card, debit card or net banking. The process is a bit longer as the customer is transferred to the bank's server, from IRCTC's server, for making the payment and thereafter he is once again taken back to the IRCTC site which takes considerable time for booking a ticket. Only PAN card-verified users can register this scheme and in case of ticket cancellation, the due refund will be credited to the e-wallet account next day. PTI

Advantages and Disadvantages of eWallet Scheme of IRCTC
IRCTC has started eWallet scheme recently for its users to make payment to book tickets without using any other payment gateway. User can deposit money in the eWallet using the net banking account. The minimum deposit is INR 100 and in the multiple of INR 100 and the user can maintains the balance up to 5000. (Max. limit). To avail the eWallet service user must have a PAN number for registration of eWallet.
Advantages of eWallet
1. User
...
can book the ticket easily using the eWallet account, some time the other payment gateway does not work on the time of booking and the eWallet is fast and secure mode for online booking.
2. If user cancels the eTicket, the refund goes to directly to the particular user’s eWallet without any delay.
3. User can saves money in eWallet (up to INR 5000) for future travel.
Disadvantage of eWallet
1. First, the user needs to pay INR 250/- registration fee (non-refundable) to avail the eWallet service.
2. While the depositing the money into eWallet, the bankers take the nominal charges with service tax as applicable at the time of booking using net banking payment gateway of any banker.
3. Beside above charges, IRCTC also levies INR 5 per transaction while booking through eWallet service.
4. The main disadvantage for the eWallet service, if an user book 1st AC ticket of Mumbai Rajdhani Express from New Delhi (NDLS) – Mumbai Central (BCT) the approximate fare is INR 4135, and the user deposits INR 4200 in eWallet to book the ticket. After some time, the user cancels the trip (eTicket) for any reason. The entire refund amount goes to the eWallet after deductions (if any). The user cannot take money back to the banker’s account for other use. The entire money will be kept in eWallet for future bookings.
5. As the entire money deposited is non-refundable and can only be used by booking of tickets only (according to the current terms and conditions of IRCTC, subject to be amended by IRCTC in future), If the user leave the country, or dies or not in condition to use Indian Railway in future then the entire eWallet money will not be refunded by IRCTC .
Conclusion
The only benefit of eWallet is refunded amount return in the eWallet without any delay as compared to other payment gateways. If the user books the eTicket using IRCTC website directly using payment gateway as through banker’s net banking or Internet banking account then it can be cheaper than eWallet service and user can use the refunded money for any other purpose.

The biggest disadvantage is the limit on money which can be saved in eWallet. Today Rs. 5000 is not sufficient to book even a 3 AC ticket for family travel. Take for example a small family 2 adults and 2 kids traveling from NZM to SBC in Rajdhani Exp. INR 8410 plus taxes are applicable. Now if you include the return journey as well then this limit is for more then insufficient. With traveling being a basic job requirement many working professionals will be traveling frequently with family (many cases both wife and husband working).

One biggest disadvantage is restricted hours, one can not book from 8am to 12 noon. so no opening ticket, no tatkal ticket, only left over tickets from counters. after all irctc server sleeps during 8 to 12 only. so no use of registering in e wallet paying a non refundable amount of rs 250.

12412 - Train must have to stop at Phagwara as all the other Shatabadi, Jan Shatabadi express are already stops here. Phagwara also cover all doaba region of Punjab i..e Hoshiarpur, Goraya etc. Also does not have any direct rail link to Chandigarh .
