We all know that building and expanding the city’s lifeline is expected to come at a huge cost. But, the question on everyone’s mind is who will take on that financial burden. If railway sources in Mumbai are to be believed, the Centre is reluctant to invest money in the proposed Virar-Vasai-Diva-Panvel suburban line — pegged at Rs. 9,000 crore — and has written to the state to contribute more towards the project.

It’s a win-win situation for the state government and so we want them to contribute more, financially,” explained another railway official. The Railway Ministry will send a proposal for the Union Cabinet approval later this month to set up a Railways of India Development Fund with a corpus of ₹35,000 crore to finance railway projects.
“This fund will not be set up for Indian Railways alone but for the railway sector as a whole in the country. The Fund intends to raise ₹35,000 crore to be invested over seven years in the rail sector. The fund may be set up through contribution from domestic and international pension funds along with domestic and multilateral borrowings agencies.

* It would be better if the fund is used to create fixed and nonperishable assets like track, bridges, tunnels, signalling etc rather than using it for consumable asset like coaches,wagons etc.
* Rs 5000 Cr per year is not a very big amount, but certainly add to the other funds raised by IR including internal generation.
* This fund must go to financially viable projects only, so that the internal generation of IR improve in the future and the loans can be repaied without putting any financial burden of IR.

Several questions have been raised by passengers over the flexi- fare system of the Indian Railways. Passengers have complained that the flexi fare system is only helping the Railways make more money while no improvement has been seen on the premium trains. Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, in an interview with TV channel CNN-News18, has now said that the flexi fare system or dynamic pricing for premium trains like Rajdhani, Shatabdi and Duronto is under review. According to reports, an earlier review of the system had indicated that revenue has increased at the cost of loss of occupancy in some of the trains and the Railway Minister looks to rectify it. As the Narendra Modi government completes 3 years at the Centre, passengers are hopeful of some relief in the flexi fare system.

Aapki baat bhi durust hai, bohut passengers isilye nahin ticket lete hain bcz they r frustrated with this punctuality of IR.
Asal mein whole fare system should be revised with proper calculation of profit and loss, eik baar Jo fare system bana uske baad waise hi chali raha hai, flexi fare jodne ka kisi ne kaha Aur jod diya. Jabke sab jaante hain ki premium trains mein suvidha ke liye pahle se hi unke special base fare hai, catering charges alag se hai, phir ismein flexi fare ka MATLAB kahaan se aagaya.

ट्राईसिटी से दिल्ली जाने वाले लोग काफी बेसब्री से तेजस का इंतजार कर रहे थे, लेकिन रेलवे के फैसले से उन्हें काफी मायूसी हुई। अब तेजस चलने के लिए अगले साल तक इंतजार करना होगा।
तेजस चलने में देरी की पुष्टि रेलवे के सीनियर अधिकारियों ने भी की है। दरअसल जो पहली सुपरफास्ट तेजस बनकर तैयार हुई थी, रेलवे बोर्ड ने उसे 22 मई से मुंबई और गोवा के बीच में चला दिया। उम्मीद थी कि तेजस का पहला रूट चंडीगढ़-दिल्ली होगा। अब कपूरथला रेल कोच फैक्ट्री में दोबारा कोच तैयार होने पर ही इस रूट पर तेजस चल पाएगी। नए कोच तैयार करने में एक साल से ज्यादा का समय लग सकता है।

शेड्यूल और किराया कर दिया था निर्धारित
2016 के विंटर शेड्यूल में रेलवे ने चंडीगढ़-दिल्ली के बीच तेजस चलाने का शेड्यूल और किराया भी निधार्रित कर दिया। इस दौरान ट्रेन की स्पीड का मामला जरूर उठा था, लेकिन कई दौर के निरीक्षण के बाद रेलवे बोर्ड ने इस रूट पर तेजस चलाने को अनुमति भी दे दी।

अधिकारियों को थी पूरी उम्मीद
कपूरथला रेल कोच फैक्ट्री में डिब्बे तैयार नहीं होने की वजह से उस समय यह सुपरफास्ट ट्रेन शुरू नहीं हो पाई। कोच निर्माण को देखकर रेलवे अधिकारी यही अनुमान लगाते रहे कि जल्द तेजस चंडीगढ़-दिल्ली के बीच दौड़ेगी।

इन सुविधाओं से लैस है तेजस
तेजस के कोच काफी हाईटैक हैं। इसलिए इनके निर्माण में काफी समय लग रहा है। तेजस के कोच में टी -कॉफी वेंडिंग मशीनें, स्नैक टेबल्स, वॉल स्क्रीन, बायो-वैक्यूम टॉयलेट्स में वाटर लेवल इंडिकेटर्स, सेंसर्ड टैप और हैंड ड्रायर्स, वाई-फाई सुविधा, टॉयलेट इंगेजमेंट बोर्ड की सुविधा है। ट्रेन में पैसेंजर्स के मनोरंजन के मकसद से स्क्रीन लगाई गई है। इसका इस्तेमाल पैसेंजर को रेलवे से जुड़ी अन्य सूचनाएं और सेफ्टी इंस्ट्रक्शन देने में भी किया जाएगा। हर कोच में इंटिग्रेटेड ब्रेल डिस्प्ले, डिजिटल डेस्टिनेशन बोर्ड और इलेक्ट्रानिक रिजर्वेशन चार्ट भी होंगे। इस कोच में 22 नए फीचर्स हैं। इनमें आग और धुएं का पता लगाने वाला और उन्हें रोकने वाला सिस्टम भी शामिल है।

Railways know that from which route they will get maximum revenue.There is more potential for revenue in cstm karmali(goa) route than Delhi Ambala Chandigarh route. Even shatabdis r not running jampack on Chandigarh Ambala Delhi route.Then how can we expect good response for tejas.
The reason is that Volvo buses r running round the clock by hr/pb and himachal roadways.So people r prefering Volvo as compared to trains for delhi

The new service from Mysuru to Hubballi via Bengaluru will pass through 13 districts
The new service from Mysuru to Hubballi via Bengaluru, (train number 17326) was flagged off from the city on Tuesday. This will be a relief to thousands of daily commuters.
The corresponding service from Hubballi (train number 17325) was also simultaneously flagged off through video link by Union Minister for Railways Suresh Prabhu.

The train from Mysuru will depart at 6.15 a.m. to reach Bengaluru at 9.10 a.m, and depart at 9.15 a.m. and reach Hubballi at 7.05 p.m.
En route, it will have stoppages at Srirangapatna, Pandavpura, Mandya, Maddur, Channapatna, Ramanagaram, Bidadi, Kengeri, Yeshwantpur, Tumakuru, Tiptur, Arsikere, Kadur, Birur, Ajjampur, Chikjajur, Davangere, Harihar, Ranebennur, Byadagi, Haveri, and Yalvigi.
Its corresponding service will depart from Hubballi at 8 a.m. and reach Bengaluru at 5.40 p.m. and depart at 5.45 p.m. to reach Mysuru at 8.40 p.m.
The train will ease crowds on Siddaganga Intercity Express and Chamundi Express. It has 16 coaches comprising one 2nd class chair car, 13 general second class coaches, two second class luggage-cum-brake van with disable friendly compartment.
Divisional Railway Manager Atul Gupta said the train will link important centres passing through 13 districts. Pratap Simha, MP, said it was a long-felt need of the people but took herculean efforts to get the services sanctioned.
He said the growth of Mysuru and the railways in the region had made it imperative for a new satellite station either at Kadakola or Naganahalli and he would try to get the facility approved by the Railway Board. Though it was suggested that the train be named Nandi Express, Kadamba Express or Wadiyar Express, it was turned down by the authorities.
Mr. Simha said hence he mooted the idea of christening it Vishwa Manava Express as poet laureate Kuvempu gave the concept of ‘Universal Man’ from Mysuru and it was more relevant than ever before in the present times and Mr. Prabhu made the announcement during the inauguration.

उत्तर पश्चिम रेलवे सफाई व्यवस्था को लेकर सालाना करोड़ों रुपए खर्च कर रहा है। मकसद है कि स्टेशन पर किसी तरह की गंदगी नजर न आए। इसके लिए रेलवे स्टेशनों पर हाईकेट तरीके से सफाई के इंतजाम किए गए हैं।

श्रेणी के 21 स्टेशनों पर 6.32 करोड़ रुपए तथा बी श्रेणी के 3 स्टेशनों पर 1.17 करोड़ रुपए की राशि सालाना खर्च की जा रही है।
इसके अतिरिक्त जयपुर स्टेशन पर 22 तथा जोधपुर स्टेशन पर 18 ट्रेनों में क्लीन ट्रेन स्टेशन के तहत सफाई की जा रही है। स्टेशन पर होने वाले कचरे के निस्तारण के लिए भारतीय रेलवे के प्रथम सॉलिड वेस्ट मैनेजमेंट प्लांट की स्थापना जयपुर स्टेशन पर की गई है। 0.5 टन कचरा निस्तारण क्षमता के इस प्लांट से बायो गैस प्राप्त की जा रही है, जो किरेलवे रनिंग रूम में काम में ली जा रही है। इस प्लांट के स्थापित होने के कचरा निस्तारण के साथ-साथ पर्यावरण संरक्षण की कवायद सफल रही है।

After a comfortable trip to Goa, you could soon board the high-speed Tejas Express to travel from Mumbai to Ahmedabad.
While flagging off the first Tejas Express train between Mumbai and Karmali station in Goa on Monday, railway minister Suresh Prabhu announced the introduction of the new service between Mumbai and Ahmedabad.
“Very soon Tejas express will start running on Mumbai -Ahmedabad route. It will be launched in some other states as well,”said Prabhu, adding that the rail travel experience in India will be redefined with the introduction of Tejas .

According to western railway officials, the plan was dropped as the train will cover the distance between the two cities in less than six hours and will be out of use for a long time.
Currently, Mumbai and Ahmedabad are connected via Shatabdi express and double-decker express trains.
Railway officials are hopeful of a good response, as businessmen and merchants might prefer travelling on the ultra-luxury premium train which is capable of running at a speed of 200kmph.
Along with WiFi, GPS and CCTV, the Tejas Express has several unique amenities such as automatic doors, secured gangway, infotainment screen for each passenger, reading lights for each seat, vacuum bio-toilets, e-leather cover seats and touch free taps in toilets.
The train also has tea- and coffee-vending machines, along with local cuisine in catering service and staffers in local attire of Goa.

Good if it starts in present DD slot. It ll eb a perfect converse to Shatabdi. DD can be shofted to 9-10am dep and 4-5 pm arrvl at both stations and can run as tri weekly. If Goa's DD rake is alos tf to WR, then it can run as a daily. :D and extension of DD upo Rajkot can also be considered :D

* This is a logical step, i.e. announcement of BCT-ADI Tejas, because the earlier announced BCT-ST was expected to be extended to ADI sooner or later. If the extension comes with the introduction of this train is much better.
* BCT-ST-ADI shall be the first route for 300kmph+ Bullet trains, which are the ultimate trains for the business class travellers. Tejas is just a step from current premium business class train (Shatabdi) towards the Bullet trains.
