My dear IRI family members, I am happy to inform that I have been promoted as Superintending Engineer, Tamilnadu Water Supply and Drainage Board and posted to Tiruchi Circle at Tiruchi.

Is there any procedure that one person can apply for HO Quota??

Dear Roshan Sasidharan, HO quota is available for any one who can prove the urgency of the travel. But a fixed protocol is followed. The protocol starts from the President of India and down to Last Grade Government Servant and also includes other VIPs such as doctors, etc including common citizen. Since availability is limited, the allotment is based on first cum first served and the protocol ranking. The discretion of the Chief Reservation Supervisor and the staff in charge of chart finalisation plays an important role. One has to apply for release of HO quota and submit the application to the CRS on the morning of the date of journey. ...

This is regarding the proposed changes to tatkal reservation system:

Insisting on details of id proof of each of the passengers at the time of booking and restricting the number of passengers to 4 from the present 6 are welcome. But reducing the advance reservation period from 2 days to 1 day is not desirable. Some of the long distance journeys last more than one or two days. So anybody would desire to have confirmed return journey plans. Particularly when proceeding for attending wedding or other family/religious functions, the return journey would...

Sir, I feel you can continue within your legally permissible limits by using your official agent id. The practice of booking tatkal tickets using individual ids by the agents, circumventing the tatkal rules, introduced every now and then only has to be curbed. By following the rules, if you can get a confirmed ticket then well and good. But using unfair means only is condemned.
