When ever I book a train ticket and it says side upper or side lower its a mixed reaction. Even though some may argue that a confirmed side seat is better than a no seat or WL.
A side upper/lower in a 3-AC can be a great thing but the same side upper/lower seems like I have been cheated when its in a 2-AC coach. This can be only me but I feel Why should I pay an extra fee for a Side seat which is same in the 2-AC and the 3-AC.
have a 2-AC booking for today in Chennai Rajdhani which was a RAC while I booked and its confirmed now but I still am waiting for the chart to be prepared.
would love to have the thoughts of other fellow passengers in this regard.

the problem of wide seats should bother only for those who may not be able to fit in properly. else it should not bother. so long as one gets a confirmed berth, it should not be a problem unless the person has some physical problems to go up to a higher berth. else minding on these small matters will make a person tense in life.

1. The measurements of Side Berths in 2AC/3AC differs.
2. The total number of passengers in a total compartment of 2AC/3AC differs.
3. In trains like Raj/Shatabdi/Duronto any and every 2AC berth comes with the facility of enhanced food quality and quantity.
4. Less probability of occupancy of washrooms.
