If the railway minister walks the talk, Ranchi will be able to board direct trains to Vellore and Jaipur in the near future, and a special purpose vehicle will expedite projects that are dragging their feet on Jharkhand's tracks.
Suresh Prabhu was in Hatia, Ranchi, on Sunday to inaugurate and dedicate a host of railway facilities to the nation in general and the state in particular. He promised "active consideration" for two long-standing demands of passengers - one, extending the Puri-Delhi Purushottam Express to the Rajasthan capital; and two, granting Ranchi a second link to Katpadi station (in addition to the one via Dhanbad) to ease hassles for patients travelling to Christian Medical College.
with Jharkhand's "expression of interest" to set up the special purpose vehicle, the Union minister said, it would be among 20 other Indian states that boast a dedicated company to look after their railway projects.

In the presence of chief minister Raghubar Das, urban development minister C.P. Singh, Ranchi MP Ram Tahal Choudhary, general manager of South Eastern Railway Radhe Shyam and others, Prabhu dedicated the 16.5km Rajkharsawan-Sini third line on Tatanagar-Chakradharpur section to the nation.
Four additional loop lines at Harubera and Barkipona (Muri-Barkakana section), Nagjua (Ranchi-Lohardaga) and Urma (Adra-Chandil) stations were dedicated online from Hatia, where the Union minister also inaugurated an Astroturf for hockey. He opened a mechanised laundry near Ranchi station and laid the foundation of a second electric loco shed at Bondamunda in Rourkela online, besides flagging off the Rourkela-Sambalpur passenger.
Prabhu said the chief minister of Jharkhand had asked for two trains (to Jaipur and Katpadi) and he would push the proposals. "Raghubar ji has brought winds of change (in a state notorious for pending projects). I will see how I can take forward the proposals," he said.
The minister further said: "I am glad that Raghubar ji has agreed to set up an SPV to speed up railway projects."
The SPV will be a joint venture company with the railway ministry and the state government being its twin stakeholders. The state will have an upper hand in taking decisions on projects for their smooth and timely execution. "I am certain the SPV will ease bottlenecks. I am glad to announce that there will also be a nodal officer (Jharkhand has suggested road construction secretary) to look after the projects and interact with the ministry," he added.
At the function, the chief minister sought increasing the frequency of Hatia-Yeshwantpur Express, introducing a Ranchi-Dehradun superfast train and converting Ranchi into a world-class station.
Seeking more trains for the state, urban development minister Singh said, "Jharkhand prachur rajaswa deta hai, atah kripaya dhyan dein ki is rajya ke saath sautela vyavhar na kiya jaye (Jharkhand generates big revenue. Please ensure that it does not face step-motherly treatment in return)."
Prabhu briefly said, "The Ranchi station will be developed on PPP mode."
On poor food quality and unclean coaches, Prabhu said: "Kindly upload complaints with pictures on our WhatsApp number 138. The number for women's security is 182. I promise quick action."

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...
