Well, this is a question about a peculiar IR ticket situation that I am facing. I have booked a ticket from A->B->C. B is the boarding point. I want to travel from A->C actually. I booked with boarding from B because the RLWL2 at B was more likely to get booked than GNWL66 at A. And it has happened that way only - the ticket is confirmed with boarding at B. Now, would I face penalty if I board the train at A. The duration of travel from A->B is about 2:30 hrs. Kindly inform how can we manage this situation.

Thank you for your answer. sorry i didnt inform earlier. this train is a garib rath - i suppose it doesnt have a gen coach. I have paid the full amount from A->C while booking. Wouldnt that count as a valid ticket from A->B too.

whoa! even after paying full ticket fare i would be a criminal. isnt that too much!!! this brings to an interesting question? Why was i allowed (by the irctc site) to book the ticket from ypr-dmm-sc IN THE FIRST PLACE? they should have allowed only DMM-SC? I suppose I have a valid point here?

Re# 707288-22
thanks for the info. this particular situation that you are quoting i have experienced several times (sbc rajdhani nzm-jhs-sbc). but i feel the current situation is very different. in the nzm-jhs case we do not indicate AT THE TIME OF BOOKING about the change of boarding (we book a normal nzm-sbc, or nzm-dmm in your case, ticket and later change the boarding to jhs). however, in this current case, we have indicated the boarding station AT THE VERY TIME OF BOOKING. so my question is - when the indian railway knows that i would not be allowed to board the train before dmm, why is it making a ticket from ypr-dmm-sc AT ALL???? Please can anybody answer this question?

thanks for all the replies.
kindly note:
1. the amount charged is the complete 3A GR charges from A->C along with reservation/SF charges
2. The boarding point was NOT CHANGED - but indicated at the time of booking in the first place (and even then i am charged with the complete fare along with reservation/sf charges)
3.

I am 99% sure that i would be not be allowed to travel in any other train with the same ticket- the reserved tickets are train specific
4. the conundrum here is that this train does not have a gen coach???
kindly somebody throw more light on this issue with these facts

this brings to the same questions again:
1. why was i (rather why should i be) charged for A-B when i have absolutely no way to travel in this particular train (as it doesnt have gen coach)
2. if there is no legal way to travel between a-b with the a-b-c ticket why should railways sell a ticket like this??? they should sell only dmm-sc and not ypr-dmm-sc
any

answers
although by arguing reverse - if they have sold a ticket like this - there should be a way to travel without getting fined....

thank you all for all the info and your time. just to be clear i said "these docs are informative although they dont directly cater to my issue".
i suppose there is still a confusion on
1. whether i can use the same ticket (a-b-c) between a-b
2. or i need to buy fresh UR tickets (II mail/exp)
[although
...
option 2. seems superfluous as i already have a-b-c ticket]
my action plan would be:
i). go to the PRS tomorrow morn and first try to get boarding changed to ypr as there are berths available (12) between ypr-dmm
ii). get clear on the issue of 1./2. (see above) with the officials at the PRS
thanks again
good night

Can we request rail authorities to extend this train to SBC/YPR - would be a good alternative to Sanghamitra express - the latter train going via MAS is a tremendous waste of time- or changing the route of Sanghamitra could be also considered.

Admin difficulties apart, my suggestion was based purely considering the convenience of the passengers. Why not "de-extend" the sanghmitra express to MAS and then extend this train to SBC/YPR.

Why does this train stop for such a long time 20 mins at Guntakal, a relatively small station?
