IRCTC site is getting pathetic. Their server is old world. 90th day booking just does not happen. After introducing the verification code field, i am unable to book a single ticket in the last 5 days. Firstly the login doesnot happen, then th epage does not open, then the verification code is not visible, then the gateway page is jammed, then the payment do snot go thru?????????
How the hell does this happen again and again. Never faced so much trouble until this year. They need to upgrade. .........isn't it?

it seems that you are trying to book tatkal ticket. While booking tatkal ticket at 8.00 in the morning there is heavy rush for booking. Many times you dont get booking confirm. If you get logged in the morning sharp at 8.00 then there are chances to book conf. tkt.

Frankly you have taken an unwise decision in booking the trains and the boarding stations.
Even if you stick to the schedule, as has been advised buy an extn on board till Dadar, and go to the origniating station (either Bandra or Mumbai central) buy a platform ticket and be ready to pay a excess fare upto Borivali). Hope this works
Don't even think of going by road, although about 25 kms it will take 1 and half hours and pray that your train is dot on time. High risk involved. Best

But Mumbai is where God hardly descends.
Let me give you a lowdown. Whether taxi, or a Ferrai it is not going to help. Between Thane and Borivali there is a small ghat/pass section where frequently trucks get struck/fail. The traffic stops with 1 or 3 km long line. Once you are able to clear this, which is occassional you will further get stuck at Kashi Mira junction on the western express highway where there is a 2 km long

Why IRCTC is not increasing there server capacity ( as there site always goes service unavailable during the peak hours of booking)
Wht was the motto of irctc to block the agents login during those periods? If there is motto is still un fullfilled than y ther are still going along with there decision? I think they should either increase there server capacity or must make some other alternatives to rectify the same.
IRCTC server is getting blocked even now, i think lots of agents are still making tkts thru persnol login.

IRCTC and IR have never been fair to agents. It is a monopoly market, but they need to better the system more than what is currently the norms. No doubt.
For one It is been 20 months since i filed a TDR in irctc and the IR has not refunded about Rs 3000 for two 2AC tkts from Shahganj to LTT. The train was diverted and the two pax could not board the train. Ir is taking its own time to enquire till then teh oax had to face hardship and loss of money. Who is responsible. I sent 4 reminders and no further progress is acheived. This is Indian Railways.

IRCTC site, booking for 90th day is a pain in the a_s. No doubt there is lot of pressure. I agree with manoj that for Tatkal atleast the ID number field should be reintroduced, saving a lot of bogus/scam bookings.
Even the payment gateways should be increased.
Tatkal quota should be reduced. Ir is earning too much from this system.

If paying capacity is the logic, then why is the railways giving sleeper & 3A coaches rates so cheaply.
No one said that they are duping!
Tatkal Quota should be reduced because passengers who are planning well in advance gets WL, and are unable to decide, confirm and plan their holidays. By letting people book 2 days ahead you are depriving the people of their peace and keep them on tentative schedule. And teh poor is worse off in this system.

because some can pay more, and have PC & internet, they are able to book a Tatkal at higher rates while others have to wait in Queue and yet have no tickets. Hope you take this positively. No one is against Tatkal it is good system, but I have seen tatkal quota as high as 180 in some trains. This is not fair.

Yes the spot the train system or running train status in the IR site cannot be completely relied upon. But i think it is improving. But please do not rely on it when you are departing. Check from the station itself.

This kind of crossing is not unusual in Konkan zone. If Marusagar is going up, than the down trains will be halted at the nearest station if they manage to or is calculated to reach it first. I think the traffic controller decides.

What is the rule if by mistake the passenger gender changes or is overwritten, on the reservation slip either by genuine oversight or genuine mistake, is there a fine or can the pax convince the mistake by showing the photo Icard ?
This happened actually, and the TT after lot of argument allowed the pax to travel!

a lot of arguments can be avoided if after knowing the problem (gender change) steps are taken to change the same in PRS counter/Chief REsrvation Supervisor or by speaking to IRCTC in case of E tickets. they can do the needful.
its a mistake and rectification steps are absolutely necessary. by rule impersonation is an offence (any matter -genunine/non-genuine) and this position is similar to impersonation. tte allowing the passenger to travel was good for the passenger, as well as the passenger's convincing power to make the TTE understand the genuinity.

we leave the counter, we should check the details in it so that it can be rectified then and there. In case of E ticket also, if tkts are available, you can cancel and rebook the same or else could have explained the problem to irctc who could have guided you.
arguing with tte is the last thing to be done. he would be right in his actions if he had offloaded the passenger.

IRCTC has to print(E- waitlist ticket) coach number on the ticket at the time of
booking and TTEs should have electronic wireless min computer to right tick the
checked ticket to avoid another E-ticket passenger on the same PNR numbered
print copy.
Now a days State transportation buses are using electronic machines in busses,
still why the biggest network of IR is neglecting new methods?.

there are many similarities in name - for e-g, Jaswant is common name used for both male and female. many more are there. we cant go by name only. gender has to be mentioned.
when waitlist passengers are not allowed to travel, mentioning coach number is not relevant.
Portable computers are made available in some trains and tte has to feed the number of available berths which can be known in the internet also.

do not compare an Pan India Organisation with a State transport bus corporation. also many states do not have this facility. compared to the railway routing, capacity, organizing, maintaining, costing all State transport buses put together do not have the same corporation/organisation.
