मिशन रफ्तार के तहत रेलवे ने दो सौ किलोमीटर प्रतिघंटे की स्पीड से चलने वाले इंजन का पहला ट्रायल रन कर लिया है। जल्द ही बारह हजार अश्व शक्ति वाले 19 इंजन भारतीय रेलवे के बेड़े में शामिल होंगे। इस इंजन का ट्रायल जर्मनी के सहयोग से किया गया है। इसके बाद यह इंजन जर्मनी की तकनीक पर बिहार के मधेपुरा में रेल इंजन फैक्ट्री में तैयार किये जाएंगे। रेलवे अधिकारियों के अनुसार डबल अश्व शक्ति वाले एक हजार इंजन जर्मनी की तकनीक पर बनाए जाएंगे। अभी तक रेलवे के बेड़े में महज छह हजार अश्व शक्ति वाला ही इंजन है। इस इंजन के सहारे यात्री ट्रेन औसत 30 किमी प्रतिघंटे की रफ्तार से चलती है। जर्मन तकनीक पर आधारित इस इंजन से औसत रफ्तार 80-90 प्रति किमी करने की योजना है।
दें कि ट्रेनों की स्पीड बढ़ाने व ज्यादा कोच वाली ट्रेन चलाने के लिए रेलवे इन दिनों कई ट्रेनों में जरूरत पड़ने पर एक ही ट्रेन में दो-दो इंजन जोड़कर चला रहा है। इसी तरह मालगाड़ी भी दो इंजनों के सहारे चल रही है। लेकिन अब एक ही इंजन ज्यादा से ज्यादा माल वाहक बन सकेगा व ज्यादा से ज्यादा कोच लेकर पूरी ताकत के साथ दो सौ किलोमीटर प्रतिघंटे की रफ्तार से ट्रैक पर दौड़ सकेगा।

भारतीय रेलवे के बेड़े में इंजनों की संख्या
रेलवे मंत्रालय के अधिकारियों के अनुसार 12 हजार अश्व शक्ति वाले एक हजार इंजन तैयार करने का निर्णय रेलवे ने लिया है। यह इंजन डीजल व इलेक्ट्रिक दोनों होंगे। डेडिकेटेट फ्रेट कॉरीडोर तैयार होने के बाद इसे मालगाड़ी में भी प्रयोग किया जाएगा। इस कॉरीडोर पर मालगाड़ी को शिफ्ट करने के बाद ट्रैक भी खाली हो जाएगा। लिहाजा इस इंजन का प्रयोग एक्सप्रेस ट्रेन में करके यात्री ट्रेनों की रफ्तार भी बढ़ाने की योजना रेलवे की है।
भारतीय रेलवे के पास इन दिनों 10,773 इंजन है। इनमें इलेक्ट्रिक 5,016, डीजल इंजन 5,714 और भाप इंजन 43 है। इनमें सबसे अधिक 600 अश्व शक्ति वाले इंजन है। अगले साल तक जर्मनी के सहयोग से 19 इंजन और भारतीय रेलवे के बेड़े में जुड़ जाएंगे।

Yes they are for the DFC. But Prima will be used on the Eastern Freight Corridor. 2 sheds where these will be based Gomoh & Saharanpur. And there will be new sheds. Ajni shed will be for Hitachi or any other Japanese electric loco which will be used in WDFC.

Please check the facts carefully Alstom is only going to make freight locos. Prima is a freight loco not a passenger loco. I am happy to be corrected if you show me one official confirmation from IR/Alstom that locos produced would be passenger and freight locos both. Request you to not quote any news links because they are heavily unreliable.

Don't worry as the electrification is progressing fast there are 2 main developments going to happen. 1st one is also discussed in the forum i.e. Loco sheds would eventually start holding both D & E locos. Also as the demand for e locos increase following steps have been taken for stop gap arrangement to increase production of electric locos as follows DKAE Ancillary unit will focus on assembling of WAG-9,s. DLW will focus on assembling on WAP-7,s. WAP-5,s being a high profile passenger loco would be manufactured in CLW only. Production numbers are expected to increase. As of now their annual production plan with increased production of WAP-7 & WAG-9 which CLW will also make.
If upgradation of WAG-9 to 9000hp
is successful you will also see WAP-7 being upgraded to 9000hp also.

Nitpicking... WAP7 will not be upgraded but rather a loco with totally new design is likely to be built for high-speed operations.

Is pic 2 of BBS Rajdhani ? Because I remember after Rajdhani rakes were t/fed to ECOR. NR had t/fed Original Imported Power Car which was supplied by Alstom LHB to ECOR. Identificator is that power car is in full shatabdi livery unlike ones rolled out by RCF/ICF/RCF RBL which are grey ones with Blue and Red band.

Hi was going through the forum super search when I realised that the thread which we used to update developments/spotting's WAP-5 has been archived. Just wondering what rules were flouted that the same was closed down. From my prospective its nice to have one consolidated thread where posts related to this mean machine can be posted. A strange thing happened when I was traveling by this train on 31st Dec'16. It was delayed and left Patna around 10 PM. This train and 12301 entered MGS same time. 12309 was allowed to leave MGS first. At outer signal after leaving MGS, it first stopped and started moving slowly in reverse direction :). I thought It will again go back to MGS. As it was rolling back, 12301 passed on side track and overtook. It continued going back and I thought 12313 would also overtake. Then It stopped going back and after sometime it started again its journey towards NDLS. It reached NDLS after 12301 but ahead of 12313.

Both HWH and BCT Raj get priority from an operational prospective because they are the oldest running Rajdhani,s. Both Trains run at 130KMPH. The only reason why BCT Raj has a higher Avg speed is because compared to HWH Rajdhani,s its distance from New Delhi is lesser. while 12951/12952 covers a distance of 1384Kms. HWH is farther from New Delhi at 1447 Kms and there is less traffic on NDLS-BCT route when compared NDLS-HWH route. So all this chest beating is nonsense. There are operational reasons behind time scheduling. I am sure once the Eastern DFC & Western DFC is in place avg running time of both trains would further come down.
One of the gentlemen very nicely said that Howrah
Rajdhani has been the test bed for all major technological innovations which happened on the Rajdhani front.

2 more WAP-5,s rolled out of CLW for GZB as per the allotment plan which has already been shared. 30109 was rolled out on 1-Dec-16. 30107 & 30108 have also been dispatched and in transit to GZB on 14-Dec-16 and 10-Dec-16 respectively. Now 3 more rollouts left before more of the allocation plan for this class is shared.

Don't go by the figures mentioned in the monthly electric loco holding file. If 4 WAP-5,s were rolled out in Sep-16 and 2 in Oct-16 then they would have been updated in the portal. I don't think that there are 6 WAP-5,s waiting at CLW for shed allocation. They hardly have that much area to hold locos once produced.

Reply #1159 - Those were September's outturns :P. October's outturn 30111 and 112 yet to be allotted.
I guess the word "outturn" is a tricky word here. The locos which underwent production and are "expected" to be rolled out is what the outturn list (& PDF) shows on elocos.

In June, a similar tender was floated for 10 sets.

Ever Wished to see the Eastbound Rajdhanis on Delhi - Mathura Route ?? yes I did but it was not until yesterday that I could see this scenario in my whole Life.
So presenting a compilation of Route Diverted Premium East Bound Trains including Rajdhanis ie. Howrah, Bhubaneswar and Sealdah Rajdhani, Howrah Duronto Express, Bihar Sampark Kranti and Kalka Mail. These Trains were Diverted from Mathura - Agra - Tundla route due to a Freight Derailment at Barhan Station.

Grievance Description : To Railway Board, Subject:- WAP-7 locomotive for upcoming GKP ELS From the pg reply I got for my previous MORLY/E/2016/04185, it is clear that JHS wont be allotted WAP-7 locomotives any sooner for trains like Pushpak Express, Sant Kabir Dham Express, Kushinagar Express, etc. Lucknow-Gorakhpur section of North-Eastern Railway will soon be electrified. Now, NER till date was a complete diesel hauled zone with no Electric Loco Shed under it. In such conditions, After the electrification of GKP-LJN section, Railway Board is requested to specially provide 3phase locomotive training to NER/GKP helping them to shed WAG-9 firstly and soon they should be able to shed WAP-7. Sant Kabir Dham, Kushinagar Express etc use WAP-7 of CR, when CR themselves have only 15 WAP-7 locomotives only. Many other CR trains need WAP-7 like 24 coach Pushpak, Vidarbha, Sevagram, etc
Current Status : CASE CLOSED

Details : Since, production of conventional tap changer locomotives has been stopped, sufficient no. of three phase locomotives will be provided to Gorakhpur electric loco shed in NER and training of staff will be planned as and when required.

You all guys are slogging it out unnecessary and its very important to set records straight. And let me do it for everyone who is involved in this dogfight.
@ KYN P-7: You are correct when it comes to GKP ELS. It is a long way to go in set up forget about WAP-5/WAP-7/WAG-9 allocations. And then high speed operation and so on .
Now Regarding P-7 VS P-5: You are going by the driver's versions and if you want to standby it please continue to do so because you are then
living into a fool's paradise. When WAP-5,s were brought in GZB they have hauled all the major Rajdhani,s/Shatabdi,s trains when WAP-7,s were not there. Today's GZB WAP-5,s are much more older hence reliability issues are much more higher compared to new WAP-7,s. But if you look at the overall statistics of loco availability year wise WAP-5 availability is much better than WAP-7 or WAP-4. in terms of percentages.
All the trains which you have mentioned Mumbai Rajdhani,s , Kolkata Rajdhani,s Duronto,s were on GZB links. GZB has been shifting the link from WAP-5,s to WAP-7,s because at the time of departure this is the suitable loco which is available for operation. Now this does mean WAP-5,s are not fit for Rajdhani/Shatabdi operation but the availability of the coaching link is a factory because their are only 100 WAP-5,s today compared to 266 WAP-7,s. There are still trains today Rajdhani/Shatabdi which are hauled by WAP-5,s 12001/12002/12003/12004/12013/12014/12431/12432 and so on and so for.
Coming to demand for high speed travel. Your Tejas which is starting from GKP to NDLS is on the same concept 130KMPH ops with AC3 tier accommodation similar to Garib Rath this is where the demand is increasing. And when I mentioned this in my post I said especially between the Metros the demand is there. Today people spend 5000-6000 rupees fly Indigo rather than taking a rajdhani which including food will set me apart by around 5000. Don't compare people who travel SL class they are those people who would have never travelled a decade ago and today can afford a railway tkt. So the target market are different.
While WAP-7,s are good for today they will be redundant tommorrow because IR needs Semi High speed and High Speed trains .
To answer your question why AJNI/LGD are providing links is because NR has officially stated that with its lines coming under the wires their need for elocos have gone up; JAT got electrified; HW got electrified; LKO-BSB route got electrified. Hence lots of train links which were on GZB have been t/fed to WCR/WR/CR and their is a circular which was formally issued.
Also just for your information there will be a separated shed which would come up in Ajni for the DFC locos they will not be accommodated in the current shed. And a similar shed which would be much bigger is coming up in Saharanpur
@ HOG WAP-5: You are correct that's why when WAP-5 used to go down south to MAS/SC with the Rajdhani,s it was speed restricted.
Hope this will put an end to the debate.

Anyways, I trust what I get to see. I am a WAP-5 lover as well but that doesnt mean I stay in fool's paradise w.r.t it's abilities or try to fool others too about the same.
I have been hearing the same from WAP4 supporters too, WAP4 still has abilities to haul rajdhani/shatabdi. they didnt mention abt WAP-5's ability there. Here also, the same, you have mention about P5's ability but you didn't mention about WAP4's ability did you? :D
You said GZB has been shifting the link from WAP-5,s to WAP-7,s
because at the time of departure this is the suitable loco which is available for operation.
I also talked about preferred loco or suitable loco not about abilities of loco.
Preferred loco as in WAP7 which can give 130-140 mps as a WAP4/5 with Rajdhani trains. But diference, is WAP7 has better accelerating ability than the other two and also are better with long rakes. Now, better acceleration is needed as the routes are now congested especially routes like NCR/ALD which have maximum no of Rajdhani passing through it and No. of coaches in Rajdhani has increased, from 17 icf/LHB rajdhani to 20-21 LHB coaches, again that makes WAP7 most suitable.
Reality is before us, WAP7 has not only replaced WAP5 of BCT/AK Rajdhani but also replaced WAP-4 of DBRT/RJPB/BBS Rajdhani.
WAP-5 was regular link of BCT Rajdhani. It was not a case of whichever loco GZB ELS/NDLS trip shed had i.e wap5/7, that would be given. But for once, WAP5 experienced wheel slipping due to drizzling weather n cudnt maintain 130 mps with 20 coach load. Deliberately and immediately, the WAP-5 was replaced by WAP-7.
That system of which ever loco is available shud be given, is still prevalent for Ranchi/MAO/TVC Rajdhani. But there have been clear and deliberate replacements of wap-5 by wap-7 for 130 mps trains like MAS-NZM Drnt, PUNE-NZM Drnt and BCT Raj.
While 110 mps trains like nzm-pune is given wap5, which runs ontime even when a WAG7 is given.

anyways, you continue with your never ending WAIT of HWH WAP-5, for which I have already got a reply recently from ER.
Soon, a reply for/frm SCR/CR too is expected, will show that too.
From ER's reply too, its evident, that 130 mps is given by both
WAP-5 n WAP-7, n they are preffering WAP-7 currently, finding no need to shed wap5 until in future, enhancement of speed is done in HWH NDLS section. so, it clear for 110 mps trains n also 130 mps Rajs, wap-4 and wap-7 are there. If speed upgradations are done, then only wap-5 migh come in picture.
Grievance Description : Subject:- WAP-5 locomotive for ER zone. There is extreme crowd in allotment of WAP-7 locomotives. as a result of which only few wap-7 could be allotted to HWH ELS of ER. In such a case, WAP-5 locomotive can be tried to be shed in HWH ELS by transferring HWH WAP-4 to Asansol or to shed WAP-5 in Asansol ELS itself. WAP-5 is an high speed locomotive. ER/ECR section of dankuni-dhanbad-mgs is 130 kmph fit and soon upgradation is expected. Even the Asansol-PNBE-MGS section is soon getting upgraded from 110 kmph mps to 130 kmph mps. Hence, for such high speed zone, and huge no of trains, few WAP-7 wont be enough. In such case, WAP-5 locomotive should be shed in one of ER ELS Asansol or HWH.

Details : Allotment of locomotives to shed is done by Railway Board on requirement basis.Electric loco shed , Howrah has 19 nos. WAP-7 locomotives which haul mail/express trains including prestigious trains like Rajdhani Duroto . During the current year 2015-16, Railway Board has already allotted 04 nos. more WAP-7 locomotives to Electric Loco Shed, Howrah which will be used to haul more new trains and diesel to electric traction converted trains.it may be noted that both the locomotives viz. WAP-7 WAP-5 are hauling trains maximum up to a speed of 130KMPH between Howrah and New Delhi. If in future any enhancement of speed of train is done, suitable loco will be provided by Railway Board to required loco sheds.
