Sumangal, yesterday I had pointed out and the moderator had agreed that since this feature relies on the official IR site for info regarding live running status of trains, there are limitations. Whatever inaccuracies/absurdities are there in the official site such as the one you pointed out are transported in this feature. Hence anomalies are bound to be there since the official sites are often unreliable. Nonetheless, the added feature is still most welcome, despite the limitations.

Another strange thing
The train shows is between rajamundry and elluru...
where it is supposed to reach 1 hr 55 mins late...Now before reaching Elluru how its is predicted that at Vijaywada the late will go up to 2 hrs 20 mins and at Ongole it will go down to 2 hrs??

The timings in this case are absurd, no doubt. The cause is unknown. The inaccuracies of some of these timings are well-known - especially for fresh data. Maybe by the end of the day, the numbers will be consolidated. We may recheck this timetable later in the evening and see if it has been corrected. Meanwhile, it is best to consider alternative sources for verification and confirmation.
Thanks.

I have a query : if a train is running heavily late, then is there an option for the railway officials/train driver to halt the train at a station for a lesser time than as scheduled so as to make up for the running late?

Jivraj, from my practical experience and a look at running status I can confirm that in case of trains which are running late, there are several instances where the train halts for a lesser duration than the scheduled time for stoppage at a station in order to make up for lost time to the extent possible. No passenger can complain in such a case because the train is departing from the station later than scheduled. Only instead of stopping for say 15 mns in a station like Vijayawada, it halts for 10 mns. There are numerous such instances, but with limitations. Say if the stoppage is for 15 mns the train does not however depart after a halt of say 2 mns.
However,
...
the reverse is not true. If the train arrives at a station say 20 mns before time and has a stoppage there for 10 mns, it halts for 30 mns and departs only at the scheduled dep time so as to not inconvenience passengers who want to board at the last minute.

i agree with u. 12307 HWH-JU EXP was running late by 2hrs and its halt time at CNB is of 15min and train stopped there for 10min only. And this diff. was clearly visible in trainenquiry.com, anyway nice capability of noticing d things...:)

I fully agree with you sir.
The reasons and times are exceptional, and then solutions too will be exceptional. But this will not form the 'rule'.

Train Live Status:
This feature has now been enhanced to show the entire running status timetable on Google Maps for actual Departure Dates. The "Departure buttons" are available for valid departure dates, for which live running status can be ascertained. For example, a daily train that completes its journey in 2 days will have two valid departure dates - today and yesterday. A weekly train departing on Mondays, which completes its journey in 2 days will not have any departure button, since the train would already have arrived at its destination yesterday, and there are no more departures till next Monday.
Clicking
...
on any station in the timetable will pop up that station on Google Maps showing actual arrival and departure dates along with the actual dates.
The train position is available on the map, as well as in the timetable list - between the last departure and next arrival stations.
Also, we are trying to show the State that the train is travelling through along with the Railway zone.
Some errors and bugs may be expected, and we shall be refining and enhancing this feature in the coming days.
Upcoming enhancements: Complete historical timetable on Google Maps, for any given departure date. Ability to add multiple trains to the map, and see the relative position of these trains on the map. The Arrival/Departure lists on the Home Page will also be enhanced.
Thanks.

rightly said... AC 1st class has many allocations to VIPs and other Quotas so your coupe/cabin will be allotted only upon chart preparation. Still, you have a good chance of getting a 2 person coupe. Better carry you own food is a universal advice given to you by any person who has travelled in Indian Railways.

we are always here to help out foreign tourists in accordance to the indian motto : "athithi devo bhava" meaning guest is equal to god. firstly, there wont be any showers in any indian railway coaches. secondly, wearing nightclothes to bed is ok in ac 1st class as u have a lot of privacy there compared to other classes. comfort wise, AC 1st class is the best that's available. u will have privacy and also enjoy better services by the staff.

im really sorry about that but all AC 1st class cabins do not have cupboards. Only the newly built one have it. But if the luggage is troubling for you, then you can book to get it placed in the luggage van of the train, if it has one.

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries.
