IRCTC site is still riddled with extreme deficiencies, after all the tall claim made in the last railway budget about upgrading the server! It is still pathetic!! It still takes several minutes/hours to go through a transaction successfully and get the e-tickets issued, that is if you are fortunate enough, most transactions don't go through or get stuck some where at the payment gate way or final ticketing from IRCTC site!
"eWallet" appears to be a farce, since payments through eWallet don't go through easily as well!
Is this what India capable
of with such high level of IT infrastructure and skills or is it lack of accountability some where? Ticket prices and "Tatkal" booking charges & cancellation charges have been hiked perhaps twice last few months, and Indian public has no option to silently bear with, which they do with a hope the state of affairs would improve. I don't see any hope or future for this country, not at least in my life time, unless "old farts" make way to the youth of the country to take over and bring about some radical change in governance and administration!
This is being posted out of plain frustration and helplessness, having to pay Income Tax, CenVat, Vat, Service Tax, Excise Duty, Customs Duty, Professional Tax, Property Tax, Educational Cess, continually rising cost of food, provisions, Electricity, Water, Petrol/Diesel and the list goes on....Where does all the revenue and collections go? One can well imagine, considering massive scams, junket tours and so on....
A concerned senior citizen.

1) It took 3 hours to book to & fro Bangalore(YPR) - Secunderabad(SC) and Kacheguda(KCG) - Bangalore(SBC) booking!
Indeed very pathetic. The IRCTC web site behaviour was so erratic, abnormal delays to log in, abnormal delays to enter station code; abonormal delays to show up availability; abnormal delays to show up to enter name of Passengers, payment page & payment option; etc. and then to utter frustration the message that reads: "Connection problem"!!!!
2) With Lower birth preference for Senior Citizens, for two Senior Citizens of 66 and 73 years, finally after
frustrating experience, with 455 seats/births available for booking on Garibh Rath of 5th November to Secunderabad, we don't get Lower births for both and with 49 seats/births available on Bangalore Express of 7th November to Bangalore (SBC) we get Upper Births!!!!
The IRCTC reservation system does not seem to Senior Citizens' friendly!!!!
Why not IRCTC take a relook at this problem????
Further, why not IRCTC stagger the normal booking to open for half the Railway Zones at 8:00 Hrs and the rest at 9:30 Hrs. Similarly, for Tatkal booking to open for half the railway Zones at 10:00 and the rest at 10:30 Hrs????
I assume somebody in IRCTC reads these Posts????

NOW it is high time that Technically separate Servers are put of according to Zone under whom the Train is Managed.
It is wonderful that Facbook with billions of Users all over the world, can manage whole world over with different countries, as per Google search: 800 Million users all over the world, Indian Govt in one country is struggling. And IRCTC will not have many users as FB.
Why cannot they pump in Advanced Servers: Or divide the working as per zones....
every user will have one account, but booking etc servicing will be done under different zones....
If this sounds silly, just look for Facebook... who are located in different country but have 'United Users of World'.... UUW
Why they are telling India is a super power... Is it a Joke?

Indeed it is pathetic it is their prime motto to allocate births to senior citizens and I am sure that some age criteria mapping which will be there. But most of the time tickets in main trains will be near bathrooms and no one in general quota will get lower births.I booked one lower and one upper around 6 times last month only once I got even in rajdhani after having 166 Available still i got SU and Upper just for booking lower and upper.

I guess it is the travesty and apathy in general that surrounds most of the governmental organizations! If I my say, with what I have seen in the last several years, admitting that there have been some progressive steps taken by many governmental organizations, there is no hope for at least next 2 - 3 generations to see things the way they should be! Last few years, particularly last few months, we all have seen the disastrous level of scams that have been making the news and how any one can expect a commitment to public service from most of the politicians in power other than taking the country for a ride!! No hope folks!!!

There has recently been a lot of frustration among RFs when their Station Pics, Loco Pics, Train Pics get rejected because the "number is not showing", "shed is not visible", the loco/train is at a distance, Train Board is too small, "better pic available", etc. . To address this issue, effective tomorrow, ALL...

-@all members: As of recently, there has been a trend whereby minor name updates of Trains/Stations - whether such and such regional name should be there or not, whether the train should be called "Abc Express" or "Abc Superfast Express", etc. are threatening to take over the majority of Timeline entries. Also,...
