Train over water on one of the dangerous sea bridge.
Pamban bridge Rameshwaram Tamilnadu completed 100 years.It was awesome experience to see train on this bridge.Speed is restricted to 10-15kmph.
One can visit this bridge by taking Auto from Temple/station.its approximately 10km from Temple.They charge 350-400Rs to and fro but you can bargain.

Was wondering why most rake compositions have AC coaches somewhere in the middle... surrounded by SL and/or GEN compartments. Is there a set of rules/ guidelines in terms of rake composition from IR?

From whatever I have seen and travelled the AC compartments are never in the middle. They are always immediately behind the General Compartments at either end. In fact my complaint is that when we travel by AC compartment we have to walk a very long distance to reach the entry or exit of platform.

Most of the trains leaving howrah have AC coaches in the rear. Corromandel and Chennai howrah-mail have AC coaches in the rear when they leave chennai or howrah, but when they reach destination it is in the front

Easily you can board or alight. There is no great rush. I had travelled from Pne to Thane twice. In fact the actual stoppage is also more than one minute

Why no one is interested in Imaginary train in Mumbai - Bangalore route?
Can we propose one like this?
LTT - 0900; PUNE 1230; MRJ 1730; UBL 2230; YPR 0545.
Return trip YPR 0900; UBL 1615; MRJ 2115; PUNE 0215; LTT 0545.
My logic goes like this : LTT-UBL is proposed already to start at 0900 as a daily train. So slot is available at LTT-Pune stretch. From Pune, in 10 hours, SF can reach UBL (follows KSK) and from there, it can overtake KSK or KSK can be speeded up to reach at 0545 and this SF can reach by 0620 (KSK timings).

Though it is a welcome suggestion the TT is impractical with the present infrastructure. Apart from SBC-SA timing even CBE-PGT timing is unrealistic. With the restriction in the speed in the Ghat section 40 minutes is impossible. Otherwise it is a suggestion requiring attention of the Authorities. The same rake can return the smae day after an hour from ERS

My suggested TT will be SBC 0600, SA 0930/0933, ED 1023/1030, CBE 1150/1155, PGT 1300/1302, TCR 1410/1412 ERS 1520.
In that case another rake has to be provided for the return direction. The return departure from ERS can be 0700 hrs and the rest TT can be made similarly so that arrival at SBC can be at 1620.

The new timing is inconvenient for coimbatore passengers and it is reaching in very early hours in the morning.. Delay of atleast 30-45 mts should be ok.

I agree. Even though I am a CBE man I feel it is not correct to expect all the trains passing through a station has to be convenient to the intermediate station passengers. Having said this CBE definitely needs a dedicated overnight train to SBC in both directions and we should pusue it

Good one but the TT need a relook. For example 3 mnute stoppage at KYN may not be sufficient as a Loco reversal is required.

All that the shift in stations meant was an extra 55 minutes on the train.According to railway officials, one of the key reasons for slower trains is the single line in the ghat section between Sakleshpur and Subrahmanya Road, where there is a speed restriction of 30 km per hour. Despite, the huge volume of traffic on the route, the Railways is yet to finalise plans for a double line in this section.However, even with the existing lines, trains could save up to an hour or more if they ply via Arsikere, the shortest route between Bangalore and Mangalore. Several rail passenger associations had demanded an overnight express between the two cities via Arsikere, but Railway Minster D.V. Sadananda Gowda sanctioned only a day train via Mysore, which takes up to 13 hours.
The long commuting time by train has forced many to opt for intercity private buses.
The Paschima Karavali Rail Yatri Abhivriddhi Samithi, is fighting for railway causes of the region, alleges that the Railways was deliberately discouraging travel by train and forcing people to opt for journey by buses. Samithi president G. Hanumanth Kamath told The Hindu that those from the poor and middle classes still preferred train journey due to low cost and safety.

Next time they will revert to old time and claim that the train has been speeded up. Then they will provide statistics as how many trains have been speeded up. They never mention how many trains have been slowed down when the New Time table is presented.
