The live update information given in Railways website is not accurate. Today I went see off my relative at Coimbatore by 12677. The train arrived at Coimbatore Junction at 1323 and left at 1333, but the railway site gives as 1310 and 1323 respectively. We can accept a couple of minutes mistake but 10 minutes is a pretty big error with the present technology. We have to be careful with this information

This train arrived at 0330 hrs today at MAS (~1 hr early). I was trying to track it from 0200 hrs onwards but IR didn't allow tracking beyond AJJ. If the train has so much slack, why not permanently alter its timing..

Both 11027 and 11028 have very high slack. But speeding up will result in either reaching unearthly hours or starting very late. All the Trains in MAS-CSTM sector can be speeded up considerably. These Metro city connections for Railways is the worst in the Country. Having travelled in this Sector for 45 years regularly I know the progress made is worse than "snail's pace"

Seems der is some devil exits in dis route..
Many will say being single n unelectrified trains cannot be speeded up ..Hyderabad - Pune sector also same route na frm wadi..den how come shatabdi n duronto is der..now MAS Wadi is double route n following same route trains coming frm hyd..seems der is prblm with MAS /SBC - CSTM sector only..in single routes also there are trains running with aggressive avg speed..

Nowadays flight tickets are available for Rs 999 and there are so many flights between MAA-BOM so why would they bother to improve rail connectivity..also Volvo sleeper bus takes only 20 hrs from Chennai to Mumbai..

You are right. Palar has been dry and I used to wonder why a bridge is required for this. But I remember in the 60s when most of you were not born, water had flown from bank to bank for about a week. Vellore residents had flocked to see the sight!

After more than seven-and-a-half years there is renewed hope of train services on the newly laid Palakkad Town - Pollachi Junction new broad gauge track. The old meter gauge track on the stretch was in use for 110 years since the first train chugged in 1898 before it was closed 2008 when work began to convert the meter gauge railway line to broad gauge - as part of Podanur-Pollachi, Pollachi-Palakkad, Pollachi-Palani-Dindigul sections.
On Wednesday, officials checked the safety of the track on various parameters such as speed and stability. Trial began from Palakkad Town Station at 10.15 a.m. with an engine and a coach. Deputy Chief Engineer of the gauge conversion project R. Ramakrishna, Divisional Railway Manager of Palakkad Division Mohan A.

Menon and other officials rode in the speed trial train.They reached Pollachi Junction at 12.05 p.m. by travelling at an average speed of 40 km an hour. While the officials had earlier said that they would return from Pollachi to Palakkad at 80 km an hour, they did not go beyond 60 km an hour, and that took them about an hour and twenty minutes. Railway authorities from Palakkad Division said that they have completed a major share of work on the route and that the basic amenities were in place at the stations. After successful completion of the speed trial, officials from the Palakkad Division and construction wing of Southern Railways said that they would conduct more speed trials. They said that the track was ready for inspection by the Commissioner for Railway Safety. After his inspection, train services would resume on the Pollachi Town to Palakkad Town stretch.

If LTT-ERS Duronto is given a stop at CLT we Coimbatoreans will be happy that we can take that train from LTT to CLT and then take the MAQ-CBE Intercity. Thus we can reach CBE from LTT in less than 24 hours.

12678, Ernakulam Bangalore. I had pretty bad travel experience today. I traveled with two small kids (4 and 3) and wife. My boarding station was Trichur. When I got in, all overhead bins were full even though there were lots of empty seats. People from Ernakulam had occupied all. I tried to put my trolly beneath but it was not fitting in. Then I asked around to give me space to keep at least one piece so that my kids will have space to stand. No body responded. I repeatedly asked, then I decided to bring one down. Apparently they were one empty slot somewhere it seems. Anyway the owner of that luggage got into an argument by saying anyone can keep luggage anywhere and it is not mandated that people will get space to keep luggage, I didn't say anything since I don't know. It is always a problem in 12678 from ERS. I have seen many times people coming by International flights land in COK and take this train to CBE. They invariably carry Big suitcases and travel by AC Chair car. Some times they block the passage. When we complain to TTE he ignores us. I even suspect these people may not even have paid Excess Baggge charges

exactly , nowadays its a common scene in all trains including Rajdhani people used to carry heavy luggages which is causing a lof of discomfort to the co passengers. Not in Train in flights too a normal peron will carry 3 bags in the name of cabin baggage.
