What train?
An Express train travels from station A to station B, both are large important stations in India, this Express train starts it's journey at station A, terminating at station B, this Express train takes over 18 hours to complete the journey, even though it's longest halt at any station is only 45 minutes.
Station A and B are in the same rail zone, and most trains take less than 3 hours to travel from station A to station B.

friends i was surfing a website and got an interesting question for you all .
can anyone tell me why Chalukya Express (11017) is named as "chalukya" which was Bangalore Express before ?
why the train never runs on Tuesdays ?
and why the trains times were completely changed a few years ago to be sure of departing Miraj station in daylight ?

Sorry friends, the Chalukya Bear story was just my attempt at playing a joke on some tourists, funny, but no truth at all.

PNR Accuracy & Scores:
Since the introduction of the PNR Forum, the prediction scores have been kept against member profiles, to keep history as well as to encourage our members to make predictions based on their past experience. We have received concerned feedback from our Admin Jitesh, seconded by other Admins, that of late, people have been making guesses rather than reasoned predictions, to increase their scores or to game the system. We admit that all such user activity is primarily triggered by the mechanics/deficiencies of the system.
Accordingly, to adjust user attitudes
...
and tune the same towards a calculated thought process, the following PNR scoring changes are being instituted immediately.
1. Hereafter, only the number of "Correct" Predictions will be scored. Incorrect predictions will not count towards the total score. So, for example, if a member made 100 predictions and got only 60 correct, the PNR number score will show 60. If another member made only 70 predictions and got 65 right, their score will show 65 (more than the previous member).
2. The accuracy figure is stricter now. Partial points will not be credited anymore. For example, if a member predicts RAC, but it turns out Confirmed, then 0 points are awarded (unlike before, where 50% credit is given).
3. Weightage. As before, recent months' predictions will carry more weightage. This will serve to improve accuracy figures rapidly as members improve their accuracy and instincts.
It is hoped that the stricter accuracy figures, along with displaying only the number of correct predictions, will encourage our members to give careful thought to each prediction and make it count.
Feedback welcome. As everything else on this site, features are constantly evolving to keep up with changing usage, uptake and feedback.
Thanks.

I'm new here, and still trying to work out how things work here, but here's my view on a few things discussed in this thread.
PNR's getting confirmed via HO should be void, a person wanting to know if their PNR may get confirmed wants to know how accurate our members are in predicting PNR's, and HO confirmations can affect our members percentages unfairly and lead to uncertainty for person presenting the PNR, I've noticed that the majority of active members have percentages in the 60-70

range, and whilst I understand that PNR prediction isn't easy, these are still low numbers for people who understand PNRs, and these percentages dont give great confidence to the PNR holder.
Foreign tourists (& NRI's) can also jump the WL queue (if they bought a WL ticket) by getting their tickets confirmed against the FT quota (where available), I don't know if FT would appear in this case, but again, this would be unfair and FT confirmations should also be void.
RAC half points if ticket gets confirmed - I think this is a god idea and agree that there is a very thin line between Confirmed and RAC (and many RAC passengers would be given a confirmed berth as the train departs, just wondering though, if a member predicts that a WL ticket will end up in RAC, and it gets confirmed, does that member get half a point?

I disagree about the negative marking and think that almost all members take the prediction very seriously, I don't know the members but I

know human nature, those percentage figures are key, and members won't rist lowering their percentages by making wild guesses, I know that I'm disgusted with my 62% and will be a lot more careful with future predictions, over the years I've got a little used to PNR's and felt I understood them well, but 62% says different, I must admit that I'm simply stunned that some PNRs get confirmed and other's don't, and as every other prediction had agreed with mine, others would have also been surprised, and the kind of PNR I'm talking about would have been considered almost a certainty, so if members are in any way penalised it could have members reluctant to predict, and this wouldn't be good.

If people don't know the difference between GNWL, PQWL, RLWL or CKWL, or the workings of the HO quota, or how to find how many berths are allocated to each quota, do we really want them predicting PNRs?
(but who am I to talk, less than 60% at the moment)

I wrote an article a few years ago trying to explain waitlists
.

.
It's

a detailed article, but there are some mistakes and some things have changed since then, but the most important thing to remember when reading the article is, my target audience were foreign tourists, and sometimes you can give too much information and make the whole article too complicated to understand, so I had to try to keep it simple.
The reason I mention the article is, there's a section in the article about how to work out if your waitlisted ticket may get confirmed, I don't include every bit of information as that would only confuse tourists, but it still includes all the basics.

If you'rs a foreign tourist, you can go to Jaipur station tomorrow (no later) and book 2 tickets on the foreign tourist quota, there's still 3 available in 2A.
2 advantages of doing this.
1, despite you holding WL1, there's a reasonable chance that ticket will not get confirmed, this is because the Jaipur quota is very small and there's already a big enough waitlist on the Delhi quota to use up any unsold quota tickets.
2,

even if the ticket does get confirmed, it's unlikely that you'll be seated together, although you should be in the same carriage, if you book FTQ tickets you will be seated together.
