Why cant this train skip ujjain and run on dewas - maksi line, this could save more than 1hr (travel time + waiting time at ujn for loco reversal). there is already a biweekly train from ujjain to blore (jaipur mysore) which ppl from ujjain can avail, in any case they could travel on their own till maksi/dewas/indore to use this train

not only this train but trains to mumbai, pune, nagpur, trivandrum etc will benefit from this conversion, why is WR so slow in this conversion. also many trains connecting north - south could be routed via indore

I am hearing about this railline convesion from indore khandwa section since last 10 or more years
I think what is needed is more public altertness as well as political will to push this pending project of this railline converstion . Afterall distance reduction of around 400 km between Indore and Khandwa will benefit to the people of the
whole region and railway will benefit aswell

Had Indore been capital of MP, it would have been done some 30-40 yrs back itself, and by now it would have been a double electrified line, with support for rajdhani/shatabi speeds, but sadly its not. Just imagine, electrification was completed in 2012...what a sad story

+indore has a lot of road trafic to cities in maharastra, such cities could be connected on rail, eg. bhusawal, jalgaon, manmad, nasik, chalisgaon, dhule, aurangabad, solapur, shirdi and so on

well said..bhopal gets every thing, bhopal is on the main route, it has got world class station, tracks are getting tripplified..indore is not even a passing station

Whats your Wishlist for Budget 2013?
Here is my wishlist (very small):
1. Indore-KNW gauge conversion should be completed and tested by End of FY.
If not possible, provide connections to major train like
Karnataka, etc.
Ideally non stop trains between INDM and KNW (ofcourse there will unscheduled halts for signaling) but overall jorney time should not exceed 4 hrs. eg. KNW-INDM at 8PM which reaches INDM at 12AM and INDM-KNW at morning 6AM which reaches KNW at 10AM. (For KK) Similarly for other major SF trains. Also conditions for leaving KNW should be the respective train should have departed, so that if KK gets late, which is very rare, it should wait for it.
I really hate bus transport in M.P.

INDB- KNW will take atleast 2 yrs to complete once it is approved and work starts. Difficult terrain, forest land are major problems. Also the ghat section

that was all political drama not to hike in last 9 yrs, but now it is unavoidable. Its bcoz of all these drama there is a sudden hike, otherwise no one would have bothered if every year there was 1% hike.

I think this is good for passenger safety, as proper testing would be done before. But the bad thing is this should have been planned earlier, and people should have been informed in advance. They should atleast start work on the next section (say fatehbad-mhow), while they are testing this section. Otherwise this will slowdown the Ratlam-Akola guage conversion project.

In addition to fare hikes, railways should make some strategies to improve revenue. Simple things like optimizing train timings, in many trains occupancy is less due to bad time table, which cause loss of revenue to rail. Network should be increased at a faster pace, today railways do not reach lot of places, or reach with long routes, or requires people to hop on multiple trains, due to which large customer base belongs to buses. Also there are many routes where the demand is high, but trains are less, they should increase frequency/coaches/new trains on such routes. One more way railways can earn is by increasing 3A coaches, nowdays there is lot of demand for 3A, but when people dont get confirm ticket on these, they opt for SL.
