Click to open. as rail budget comes nearer, all the rail fans are anticipating new train announcements and other good things.we all know IR short of funds this time and to lessen the burden they r going to advance ARP by 120 days (a good move). as there r more serious railfans out there, lets pour suggestions on how IR can increase profitability and get funds via other route??? (leave fancy train announcements apart and focus more on small technicals). 1.one suggestion on my part is to convert Yuva trains to short distance shatabdi trains. 2.increase cost of platform ticket to 10 (which is not much) which i think will not be opposed understanding the harassment we get into while not having change. ... Some with same time slot and some with few number of stops. They should be converted into superfasts. Example, 12508, 12516, 12510, 12514 and 15902, share same time slot between Guwahati-Vijaywada. 15902 can be converted into superfast. 18103 Tata-Amritsar Express runs like a SF train with less halts and on time. It should be converted into SF. 4.Increasing cost of platform ticket to Rs 5 which is not too... All AC durontos with less than 50% occupancy shd be converted partly AC and Partly SL Class. Thus occupancy increases as aam aadmi can travel in durontos and also AC coaches will be freed for newer trains to come. . 2. Advts in Durontos to look more colourful and generate revenues. . 3. As per my view, Indian Railways is planning to make their stations more Like day today's mall, In near future we would find shopping center, food stalls of major companies, in a way a railway station would have all the things we find at a mall may be not at all station but major ones. Railways would generate huge revenues by giving their premises to such multinational companies for the utility by common need by common people. Large areas of land is lying vacant at station premises, Railways are planning to float tenders soon for opening of Food stalls, shopping centers etc.. Very soon we will find Kfc, Pizza hut, big bazaar etc at your nearest station.. i really liked ur -ve points of increasing revenues.as a responsible & sincere citizen i personally feel IR should be much strict on fines.when i see the same people travelling in delhi metro he behaves well mannered and same person becomes irresponsible when coming to railway stations. fine is one answer but more than that they should be made to feel ashamed on what they r doing in front of whole crowd with heavy RPF in place (in case they quarrel). Read more... I had seen several times in Suburban trains near Chennai surroundings. Quite a few times at Gummidipundi station. A large no.of RPF'S they form a circle around the local train. And same with the ticket squad they check each and every person. Here no one can't escape from these Squad and RPF personals. And they form a group of ticketless travelers and they board them into a vendors coach. While getting down at Chennai they untie their shirt lower buttons and tie the half part of shirt with another person. After tieing they escort them to the court for fine and punishment. Click to open. i would like u to throw some light on clone trains??? what's this??? same train same stoppage same route same rake same date of journey just to accomodate WL passengers of a specific train...... As per media report clones are the train which will introduced when the waiting list for the actual train exceed 500-600(Exactly i dont know the figure). In that case another train will be arranged for those waiting list passengers and that train will follow actual train with minimum gap. That train called as clone. Click to open. i have booked a ticket for my friend i lucknow mail on 15 march from lko to ndls through my irctc id. but when i took the print out of the ticket,the ticket showed the passenger address and phone no. of mine which i feeded long time back when opening my irctc account . i want to know from u knowledgeable persons does it amount to ticket being invalid or he can still travel using his pan card where address is not mentioned??? no problem you can book ticket for frnds and relatives and he can travel if also ur address is printed in the ticket ... no way, is passengers name correct?... does he have a valid ?... if yes, thats all is required yes , the passenger name(my friend) is correct. but the problem lies here: i phoned him just now and he said he don't have a pan card.now all the id's accepted as valid by indian rail shows passenger address except pan card. what should i suggest him now??? should i suggest him to apply for pan card which will be delivered in 1 months time??? Grand Chord- also called Life line of India is section of the Indian Railways is one of the two part of main Delhi-Howrah route is a link between Asansol and Mughal Sarai, and covers a stretch of 450 km which is d 2nd one? Grand chord section is the lifeline of the country on which Coal, Steel and other important goods are moved from Eastern section to Western and Northern section of the country. Grand Chord and Chord Line are 2 different lines. The Grand Chord is what Prabhakar has described. But the chord line is the alternate line between Howrah and Barddhaman via Dankuni as different from the Main Line between these 2 stations which is via Bandel. The chord line (95 kms) is shorter than the Main line (106 kms).
