Report is correct, but the data isn't.Actually official distance at Konkan Railway is inflated by 30% from the actual distance. The official distance is 750km, whereas actually it is 577 only. So its not a super big deal. Hence if we calculate it by reducing the 30% extra distance, then the top speed would be 100-110kmph only, which is pretty normal.

Tejas has not achieved the speeds of 153 kmph, 137 kmph and 125 kmph respy. The max speed of this section is 120 kmph in non monsoons while during Monsoons it can run at 90 kmph max. The article has calculated speed based on inflated kms of KR. It means for Konkan Railway 1 km = 1.4 kms. The stretchwise speed of 22120 Tejas is as under :

Summary of Tejas run on KR:

why such a low average speed between Lumbding and Silchar / Agartala Section ? Will it be increased in the future ? as such there is no use of passenger train with such a low operational speed !!!

The Konkan route is a high speed route. It has moderate to low gradients and is mostly a pretty straight route with no sharp curves. The terrain is challenging there, but as it runs along the relatively plain coastal regions, it was possible to construct a high speed route albeit with considerable difficulty.
This route on the other hand, passes through particularly hilly tracts where a straighter, faster alignment may not really be feasible. That said, operating speeds can definitely be improved, but it is unlikely that IR would bother to keep up the rigorous maintenance and operational procedures required to do so. And given the lack of alternative means of transport, trains, even if they

are slow and few in number, would always be in good demand there.
