Both 12908 MSK and also 12218 KSK are just superb trains, practically no halts with just KOTA and BRC .............rocking speed.......

Trip Report.
Train No.-12951,Mumbai Delhi Rajdhani exp(King of WR)
Here I book an Uber and start my journey towards Bombay Central to experience my first ride with the KING..Though I have travelled by
August Kranti rajdhani thrice,but never had been successful to get a confirmed ticket in the KING..When you get a confirmed ticket in the KING,you know you are in for some thrill..I used to count each and everyday since booking the ticket and finally after waiting for 4 long months the day finally arrived..
Being a Sunday,roads were less crowed and from my residence to the station,it took not more than 20 minutes..As I get down,I can slightly hear the roaring of the generator car..The sound gets more vibrant as you move closer to platform 2,where the KING was to depart..
Station was reasonably empty as no train had arrived nor departed..4.15pm and I started a long walk to B1 which was next to the loco..Just when you pass by the generator car,you get goosebumps..This is going to be one hell of a journey..I reached my coach to find that the window was tinted and not much could be seen outside..Disappointed but not down.!!...The best berth to enjoy a journey is to book a SLB and I had one..Dad had the SU cos he loves to read without any disturbance and mom had the LB..
Soon,we buckled our luggage and I was off to check the loco..16.50 but still no signs of a loco..Then I saw a WAP5/7 with our Indian flag.Within 5 minutes we were attached to the loco and then the customary break check..It was almost time to depart,but wait...I see the deputy being shunted onto platform 1..The deputy king had some rusted exteriors..At sharp 17.06,we departed..
We departed along with the Delhi-Mumbai duronto which had arrived and was off to the yard..Both were at the same speed till we got onto the main line while the other disappeared in the yard..Within no time,we were gaining speed from 30-70kmph...Newspaper and Snacks were served after lower Parel consisting one vegetable sandwich,samosa,mango juice,moong daal,gulab jamun and some wet tissues..Dadar was smashed and other suburban stations weren't spared either..We just slowed down near Andheri but otherwise constantly maintained 70kmph till Borivali reaching at 17.32...Now the coach was packed..Time for some action.
Till Bhayander,we were maintaining 50kmph but then we speeded up as if the loco was fuelled with Red Bull...Vasai,Virar..all were mere spectators as we whizzed past at 130kmph to slow down near Vaitarna,where we had an unscheduled halt of about 20 seconds..Again we were off to do 130..It was dark out and the tinted window didn't do any good..But I managed to check the stations through the adjacent window..We overtook many trains at high speed..Vapi and Valsad were skipped at 115 and 130 respectively..Vegetable soup and breadsticks with butter sachet was served at around 19.30..Finally we slowed down at Surat outer and arrived on pf 1 at 19.57,late by 4 minutes..Departed after 5 minutes ,dinner was served soon but we continued our ripping to slow down at Bharuch outer and skipping it at a sedate 60kmph to again reach 140kmph...Vadodara arrived at around 21.08,early by 10 minutes..So we had a mandatory halt for about 20 minutes now..I got down to find the Surat-Vadodara memu standing beside the KING..I heard a honk and announcement of an arriving train..It was Ahmedabad-Kolhapur exp..We departed at 21.30 and this was a bit weird departure,we used to move at 100 and again slow down to 30..This went on for some 15 minutes..But after that,it was again speed show till Godhra where we slowed down and skipped at 40kmph..Time was 22.38 and most of the passengers we asleep..Ratlam arrived at 00.32...While departing,I saw Nizamuddin-BCT AK raj entering..I had to sleep after the departure..
I woke up only to see a train being overtaken,it was Paschim I guess...Bharatpur was smashed and bed-tea was served at around 6.30....At about 7,we slowly entered Mathura...Thought it was going to be an unscheduled halt but we started speeding up.Kosi kalan,Palwal,Ballabgarh,Faridabad all were skipped at around 70-90kmph..Meanwhile,the same breakfast was served,exception being the cheese sandwich instead of the vegetable one....Never went beyond 90 between Mathura and NDLS....At Okhla,we were given a red for about 10 minutes..,Many locals got down here...Then we were made to crawl all the way till Delhi where we were allotted pf 1...Finally we came to a halt at sharp 8.55am,late by 20 minutes..

I'll be reaching NDLS by Mumbai Rajdhani and will probably stay at Paharganj.I need to go to the airport the same night.Is there a public FOB connecting the Paharganj side to the Airport Metro station or will I need to take a rickshaw?

Since you'll be staying at Paharganj( for a while ), take the express metro from Shivaji Stadium
Or else if you're closer to NDLS then cross the station and board the express metro from New Delhi
Be careful that Express Metro is Brown Line(probably) and not Yellow Line !

From where at manamadurai can I get a bus to Madurai at 22.30 hours...Will be coming from Rameshwaram by Sethu exp. till Manamadurai and from there to Madurai..
Any other better alternative as I will be leaving Rameshwaram at around 6.30pm-7pm for Madurai

Hi everyone..I am back with another trip report.This time traveling through the short konkan stretch from Mumbai to Khed..My 2nd journey on this scenic route..Last was way back in 1998 when I was 4...Since then many changes have taken place...Railway coaches changed from Brown to Blue,WDP 4 has been introduced,LTT has been built,not sure if it was back then and I have turned from a diaper wearing guy to a somewhat decent looking person....
So lets start!!!....It was decided that we would be visiting my native place Dapoli and bus was not convenient option as it is a long journey...So train was always the first preference..A month before tickets were booked and I was shocked to see available tickets for many trains..But Matsyagandha was on the priority list due to the flexible timings...We packed our luggage in the morning on the day of our journey...Left my home,Kurla at 2.40pm,hired an auto and reached LTT within 10 minutes...
As soon as we entered the station,spotted Coimbatore-LTT standing on pf 1 while ours was to depart from pf 4.....B1 was 8th from the rear...Made my way and saw crowd waiting for LTT-Ranchi express...Heard that LTT-Manmad was going to depart shortly....I have to say that the condition of sleeper and unreserved coaches is in a sorry state....Boarded my coach and wasn't pleased to see the condition..Window was full of dirt and visibility outside was minimum...
15.20,yeah finally time to depart...15.25,why aren't we departing??....Then I saw LTT-Ranchi exp shunting...We finally departed at 15.28 and were crawling till ghatkopar after which we rushed through the local stations,overtaking slow Mumbai local trains and tall rising buildings..We were moving at 60-70kmph till Mulund and slowed down till we made our first stop at Thane...Here,Cst-Bhubaneshwar Konark express overtook us...Departed Thane after a brief halt and crawled way till Diva when we again had an unscheduled halt for almost 10 minutes...
Left Diva to join the Panvel route and let me tell you,you need to be on the door to see the Loco clearly as it is a long curve post Diva...WDP 4 was in charge...Diva to Panvel was a mix of speed and crawl,once it was 80-90kmph,then again it was a ride of 20kmph for ten odd minutes.Made an unscheduled halt at Kalamboli but soon left to reach Panvel late by half an hour,16.56 to be exact...Here it was announced that Dadar-Rtnagiri passenger will also be late by 20-30 minutes....Just as we were shown a green,saw Netravati express arriving with WDM3....
Got on my side lower berth for a bit of rest....We never crossed 80kmph after Panvel...Now the train rushing through the lush green belt,I again made my way to the to the doors and saw PEN station getting thrashed,and again crawled till KASU from where the single line starts....Few unreserved passengers got down form the 5kmph moving train,daily commuters I think....Now till ROHA we were running at 50-70kmph and finally made were made to wait for a crossing....Konkanya made its was on the adjacent platform with a WDP4 in the lead....Got a green,and started again to stop at KOLAD....here we halted for almost 20 minutes....An AC express crossed us at MPS but wasn't able to figure out which(Hope someone can tell me)...It was getting dark out when we again stopped at a station which was not lit....Asked a random guy and he replied that it was Mangaon...Now the thing at Mangaon is,they only on the lights if a train is going to arrive....Saw a light glowing in the dark...It was Ernakulam-Ohka express with twin WDM 3's......
Departed Mangaon at around 19.45,late by more than an hour..Finally left Mangaon after 20 long minutes.Mangaon to khed was the only section where we were running continuously for and hour but at a restricted speed of not more than 60kmph....Just before Khed,we were passing through a tunnel which we covered in 15 minutes or so...Long tunnel it was...I was standing at the door and peeping when the train slowed down and I could see us entering Khed station....We reached late exactly by 1.30 hours......9.15 pm.....
1.Coaches need to be maintained well
2.No cleaning at least till Khed
3.Charging sockets available
4.Caterers board at Khed...

If the train you are traveling in does not provide pantry service or if you want to pick up a good restaurant for you dinner or lunch before departure,one can try the following food outlets with my opinion.
1.Refresh fast food-In the station premises exactly in front of pf five and six.Approximate cost is rs 80-100/per person.No sitting arrangements.(Recommended)
2.McDonalds is situated just outside the station.Exit point near pf 1 and just cross the road.(Okay for fast food)
hut is just 2minutes ahead of the McDonalds.Keep walking straight ahead,you will see the Pizza hut sign board.(Big waste of money)
4.Shalimar family restaurant-AC as well as non-AC.Around 2km from CST.Good for non-veg fans.Famous in Mumbai.Catch a cab and ask the cab wala to drop you to Shalimar restaurant,Mohummad Ali road.Taxi Will cost you rs 20-25.Approximate cost is rs 600 for two.(Option only if you have more than 3 hours for departure or else risky)(Good)
5.Gulshan-e-Iran-Famous mughalai cuisine.Same way to Shalimar but before Shalimar.15 minutes walking distance from CST if no luggage.Mostly crowded, so waiting for 10-15 minutes.Cost is rs 300 for two.Same warning as for Shalimar(Best for family and non-veg lovers)
6.Delhi Darbar-Opposite to Shalimar.Famous for its Biriyani.Cost approximate 700 for two.(Recommended for biriyani lovers)
7.Many vegetarian restaurants just outside CST also.Approximate cost is rs 250 for two.

Also add Pancham Puriwala which is on the opposite side of the station.
One must surely go here for some Lip smacking Puri Choles. Very economical too.
The only negative is the waiting time on weekends.
