Hi i dont know , is this right place to ask or not but still will go with it. I Recently Have Very Great And worst experience With Railway. It was great Bcos I Got automatic Upgradation From Sleeper Coach To 3rd Ac while Travelling From delhi To Hyderabad (free Of Cost) And It was worse Bcos A checker Of 2nd ac Coach Enquired To Me When I Got To use Its Washroom And Told Me That I Am Illegally Travelling In 3rd ac while my ticket Is of Sleeper Coach And There Is No such Thing Of "Free Auto Upgradation" He ask Me For Money And In Case If I Dont Pay He Will Transfer My Case To Rpf And I Have to Off Board The Train At Next Station Which i Was Not Able To Afford due To Loss Of Time(guys Don't you Think The Rule Of...
Benefit Of doubt In favour of Checker Really Sucks Up, bcos Checker Can Harras You For Off Boarding The Train Even If You Are innocent And By The Time You Innocence Is Prooved At Next Station , you definately Gona Miss Your Deadline Of Reaching Your Destination On Time ). So Guys I Was Able To Capture The Pictures Of My Self inside 2nd Tier Cabin & by The Way Checker stolen From Me Rs 1000. So I Want To Complaint About That , what Will Be The Best Way to Get My Money Back. Thanks In Advance.

Hi , i had read in newspaper somewhere that there is railway rule which says if you booked a confirmed ticket and do not board train from the specified station then ttc have right to alot your seat to any other passenger after waiting for you upto next two stations. Is it right? If yes then can anybody give related citation.
Thank you

actually one of my friend booked a ticket from tirupati to new delhi but he is planning to board the train from secunderabad. He booked it from Tirupati because at the time of booking secunderabad was showing wait-listing while tirupati was showing more than 100 seats available so that's why in the greed of confirmed seat he booked it from tirupati. So in view of such a huge distance between tirupati and secunderabad in addition to that heavy holiday traffic in may month ,what are the chances that his seat will not be alotted to any other passenger. Or is their any other solution you would like to give for the given situation so that he will not face any difficulty.

Best solution -
Take a print of the IRCTC ticket / PRS ticket along with the xerox of passenger's identity card at any of the PRS (Reservation counter) and ask to change the boarding point to Secunderabad (SC).
They will change it and then you can board the train at SC without any worries. :)
Change of boarding can be done 24 hours prior
...

to the departure of any train at it's origin.

For these instances there is ChaNge of Boarding point , it can also be done When Booking ticket.. But as your frnd has already booked it , please ask him to approach PRS counter with Id Card and Printout of ETicket and ask them to change boarding Point :)

1) Striclty as per rules: NOT ALLOWED. You'd have to negotiate and is subject to approval by the TTE.
2)Offline. At a PRS reservation counter. Online tickets are auto-cancelled if they end up in waitlist.

Good evening , i am going from New delhi to jalandhar city after reaching H nizamudin from Secunderabad by Durnto express. I had listen from somebody that i can book something called " General ticket with sleeper" from General booking window itself for almost all the trains if they have free sleeper seats available which make you eligible to sit in the sleeper coach(but you would have to pay for full sleeper seat at general booking window). I am thinking to board the 12715 SACHKHAND EXP , by using above technique. But i don't know whether that method really works or not. So please help me out here. As only 12715 SACHKHAND EXP , is most suitable train for me. Here i would like to mention i do not have reservation in 12715 SACHKHAND EXP and it also does not have 2S class.
Thank

The "method" you're talking about, as per my knowledge can refer to one of the two:
1) Sleeper class UNRESERVED ticket, valid only in trains which have deresrved sleeper class coaches. Sachkhand is NOT one of those.
2) Sleeper class RESERVED ticket, at the current reservation counter. Given ONLY if tickets are available. Yes, if availability exists you can get it from the counter. Opens 2 hr before departure, closes 15 mins before dep.

If you have an e-ticket:
.
1) Yes, undoubtedly you can.
2) Log in to IRCTC,
Go under "Cancel ticket"
Re
...
confirm your password
Select ticket
Click on "Go For Cancellation" (no don't worry, this won't cancel the whole of it, we all have our hearts in our mouths when we click this for the first time)
You'd be redirected to a page where u can select for which all passengers you want to go ahead with the cancellation. Select them.
Click Cancel.
Confirm it again in the dialog box (Okay this one will actually cancel it, don't mess it up, its irreversible).
You're done.

If you have a counter PRS ticket:
.
Fill up the form exactly the way you filled it for booking it.
Mention only those names for whom you want the tickets to be cancelled.
Mention
...
at the top: For Cancellation
Give it to the clerk.
He'd do the rest and will give you the refund. (Don't expect him to give you exact change).

There is no Book Post service with the Railway parcel. Only Post office takes book post. In book post the content book or cards are not sealed in an envelop.

If books are not sealed then i am afraid there are chances that some of the pages could get teared off under the harsh handling of the post office employees. Anyways where i can get more info about that.

I am currently studying in Hyderabad and belongs to Punjab. I am missing so much to my home food and snacks of nearby chopati to my home. So i want to get parcel that food stuff from Jalandhar(punjab) to Secunderabad (AP). How i can do that. I can see on the Indian railway parcel website their they have four Packages/Plans available as :
Parcel Rates Scale - Luggage
Parcel Rates Scale - Premier
...
Parcel Rates Scale - Standard
Parcel Rates Scale - Rajdhani
I am not able to differentiate them. So please help me, which one to choose to transport the food stuff from my home town to Secunderabad. I never used this service before.
Thank you for your time.

not advisable to use railways parcel service for transportation of food stuff. by the time it reaches ur home, it will be stale/rotten. better use pvt courier facility like blue dart. they will deliver in 1/2 days from any city to in any city.
