Instead of having different fares for the same train on the same day, they should have different single fare for the same train on different days. Base fares should be increased upfront for all passengers for high demand dates - e.g. festivals, long holidays, events etc. e.g.
(1) Bangalore Chennai AC3T fare is 650. For Friday evening trains, this fare can go upto 800 for all passengers even if booked 4 months in advance, for Sunday evening trains, this can be 720.
(2) Ganapati season fares should be

bumped up right for all trains to Konkan. (Even bus fares increase from Rs 800 off season to Rs 2500 for Ganapati)
(3) Sunday morning Pune Mumbai trains should cost less than regular fares.
Railways has a lot of data on demand. So they should be able to design the fares and earn revenue.

Goa/Mumbai: If you are a frequent traveller with the Indian Railways, there are high chances that you have, on a number of occasions, reached your destination late. However, passengers waiting at Chatrapati Shivaji Terminus on Sunday were in for a pleasant surprise.
The newly-appointed Tejas Express arrived a minute ahead of schedule, after it had left Kamali station in Goa three hours late, reports The Hindustan Times. Almost everyday travellers suffer due to delay in arrivals but with the inception of this new express, things are set to change.
The luxury train –

capable of travelling at speeds excess of 200km/hr - galloped at a peak speed of 153 km/hr to reach Mumbai on time, despite being almost 180 minutes late. It covered 750 km as it left Goa at 10.30am and reached Mumbai at 7.44pm, reported HT.
As per the report, this was the first train journey scheduled in the new Monsoon timetable and the superior train will travel thrice a week from Mumbai and will leave from Goa the next day.
It was also reported that the train was delayed due to the late arrival of an empty coach, thus changing the timetable. The train reached Kudal approximately two hours and 17 minutes late and reached Ratnagiri an hour late.
By the time it reached Panvel, the delay was reduced to a mere 14 minutes. And by the time it reached Mumbai, the deficit was reduced to just one minute.
The luxury Tejas Express was flagged off on May 22 and is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment like Wi-Fi, infotainment systems, and much more.
The train, on completing its maiden trip, met with a bizarre incident, as passengers stole headphones connected to the infotainment systems, apart from damaging other items.

Although monsoon timetable in place, it had not started raining. So they can take that risk before it rains. Once it rains, they cannot take that risk.

Irrespective of what calculations are used, they will not attempt to recover 3 hours once rains start. But now the question is why is railways charging superfast charge for monsoon period, when the end to end average speed comes out to be only 45 kmph. They should drop this for monsoon schedule.

Hi-tech train may replace double-decker service to Goa
MUMBAI: The future of the Mumbai-Madgaon double-decker hangs in balance with the impending introduction of hi-speed Tejas Express to Goa.
While Railways sources indicated that the AC double-decker service to Goa, which is in operation for more than a year, may be discontinued, Central Railway (CR) officials declined to comment on Friday. Tejas Express will be flagged off from Mumbai for Goa on Monday.

11085 Mumbai LTT-Madgaon double decker Express leave around 5.30am. Sources said that the Tejas Express is likely to leave Mumbai at 5.30am. It will reach Madgaon by 1.30 pm, sources said.
The present Jan Shatabdi ferries passengers to Goa in 8 hours and 25 minutes and the Tejas Express will be faster in comparison.
The superfast train, which is expected to travel at speeds up to 130 kmph, will have several modern facilities on board like LCD TV, wi-fi and tea/coffee vending machines. It will be equipped with a slew of on-board facilities including redesigned seats, CCTV cameras, automatic doors, personalized infotainment systems and an advanced fire-alarm system, and have cuisine curated by celebrity chefs. The new rake for Tejas will arrive in Mumbai by Saturday morning. "On Monday, railway minister Suresh Prabhu will also rename train no. 11003/11004 Dadar-Sawantwadi- Dadar RajyaRani Express as Tutari Express," said a Konkan Railway official.
Free wi-fi will be introduced at Khed, Chiplum, Ratnagiri, Kudal and Sawantwadi among other stations from Sunday.

Double Decker should run from SWV/Kudal to LTT in morning and return back starting LTT in afternoon. Since Tejas is now available for Goa, DD need not go all the way to Goa. It should cater to Konkan belt passengers exclusively. Also, as of now 3 sitting trains start in morning from Mumbai to Konkan. This imbalance can be changed to 2 in morning (Tejas, Janshatabdi) and 1 in afternoon (DD). Alternately, they can even try making DD as Pune to SWV via Panvel.

Completely agree wid u, DD shud run on DR/PUNE-SWV route to cater Konkan passengers.
But afternoon departure from Dadar/Pune and late night arrival in Konkan wont be preferred by passengers because proper transport facility is not available at all stations at night except Ratnagiri.

Agree that there can be some passengers who may not prefer evening/night arrival in Konkan. But for them we now have JS, Tejas, Mandovi. But for the ones who can manage, they will atleast have an option to start from Mumbai in afternoon and complete the journey till Konkan by evening/night.
