Panaji is about 30/35 kms north of both Vasco and Madgaon station. Take a taxi or bus to Panaji.

Madgaon station is just before Vasco. If you want to go to Panjim(Panaji) better to get down at vasco. There is bus stand opposite to Railway station, from there you will get Govt. pre-paid mini bus service (non-stop) to Panjim (30mts journey). Also, from that bus stand, you will get buses to main bus stand which is located 1km away. Madgaon railway station is too far from city and it will take 1hr to reach Panjim.

Here are some hotels in your tariff. Hotel Palacio de goa, St Inez, Panjim, Ph: 832 2424289/2426742 (Rs 1000/-). Hotel Ashoka Plaza, 18th June road, Panjim, Ph: 832 2427875 (Rs 700-900), Hotel Delmon, 18th June road Ph: 832 2226846 (Rs 1000/-), Panjim Residency owned by GTDC, Near Secretariate, Ph: 0832 2223396 (Rs 500-900). These all Hotel are conducting daily sight seen tours, otherwise you can hire bikes. Nearest places to visit in Panjim are Dona paula bay, Miramar beach, Cruise through Mandovi river (dont miss it) and Old goa churches. Then you will get buses to northern beaches like Aguada, Candolim, Calangute, Baga beaches. Season will start in October and Tariff will change according. Note: In off season you can bargain very hard for room rent. Have a nice Holiday

Out of the list provided, I think Panjim Residency owned by GTDC, Near Secretariate, Ph: 0832 2223396 (Rs 500-900) may be a better option.

What about the occupancy since i think it is own by GTDC the occupancy mostly is full.

Also if anyone can provide me the list of good restaurants where i can found some good veg or non veg or sea food.

The best one are souza lobo's and britto's but that are far away from panjim and in north goa near calanguate beach.
You can find good restaurants in panjim also.

Dont miss tasting of Oysters there. I heard that in entire india only in Goa we will get a number of Oyster dishes :)

Dear Jayan, thanks for the feedback to the member. But I think that these rates a bit old. I searched MakeMyTrip, Yatra, Cleartrip etc and following rates were discovered:
Hotel Palacio Rs 1284-1604/- for double bed room.
Hotel Delmon Rs. 1836/-
But I think Hotel Ginger @ 1841/- ( owned by TATAs) is the best, if it suits your budget. I had once stayed in Hotel Ginger at Mysore and it was value for money indeed.

In Panjim wehre ever you go there are reasturants and bar only (plenty of fresh seafood available). Lot of veg restaurant are there near Market. Udupi restaurant is there in Panjim bus stand.

I think we have got Hotel Ginger near to New Delhi Station as well. Is it Hotel Ginger or Rail Yatri Niwas. Anyways many thanks for all for providing me with the valuable inputs.

Both are same. Formerly Rail Yatri Niwas has been renovated and renamed Hotel Ginger.

Vasco and Madgaon, both are almost equidistant from Panaji. Check distance on google maps. Better to get down at Madgaon, as by the time the train reaches vasco, you would be in Panaji.

Am amazed to knw that this train runs empty coz in my visit to SC during March the rakes were full hardly there was any space. I remember it shares rakes with some other train and was inaugurated by Kiran Kumar Reddy i suppose.

By CBC couplers do you mean the couplers which are like those which we see in goods train.

Sir thanks a lot for your input since for a while i have this query in my brain and i remembered i have asked to the folk about this unusual jerk and initial speed which trains like AP Exp, TN Exp picks. I have experience it only in the two mentioned trains by me so far. Though I used to love the jerk which we used to experience before.

I used to believe that since AP usually gets P-7 the jerk may be because of P-7 but later on when i have experienced in P-4 lead TN Exp i was totally confused and thought may be my interpretations were wrong.

The jerk of CBC couplers might prove dangerous for those standing near the door and standing without any support haha coz these jerks are nasty.

Does the train have any more technical halt.

Well when i have enquired to the lp about panto he gave me the reason of weather conditions. He also informed me that Pantograph is worth 10 lakhs rupees each.
