(a) Wednesday off: I presume you want to take care of the "mangla haat" of Howrah for which many passengers are expected between TATA and HWH on tuesdays, and also because of the weekly off-day for shops in Jamshedpur markets/shops on tuesday.

The 2-storied station building has quite a number of rooms on the first floor - good location, view also should be good. One IR person said these are retiring rooms. Somebody may throw light on details w.r.t availability, booking procedure etc.
I was under the impression that trains between Howrah and Digha start from/arrive at Shalimar. On the IR site, I observe that the three pairs of trains (Tamralipta, Duronto and Kandari) start from/arrive at HWH. Please let me know if this is a recent development.
