Very early starting time from Lucknow. Plus route is only 100 kph capable. To make it worse, more speed restrictions post Haridwar. IR could have easily introduced an overnight service b/w Lucknow and Dehradun. Would have been easier for passengers and probably more would have used it compared to an 8 Car VB.
Yeah, this VB is a waste. I think the reluctance of new overnight service comes from the occupancy levels in Janta and Doon express (YNRK) between DDN and LKO. I believe current services are decent but trains need to be a little faster than existing speed. There is a lot of slack for Both Doon and Janta express. I often travel in Janta express even though it is very convenient but very very slow.

Got this link click here from IR to check the Linen status of trains, fortunately this train gets the linen service. They mentioned it is updated periodically so that anyone can use it.

Really sad to see the way IR stopped web service. I mean it was an amazing and transparent way to build a community around really important aspect of rail travel. I hope the intentions of IR are honest as well as IRI finds some solution to overcome the problem. This again reinforces opaque operating nature of government bodies, read only access with proper security of data is the responsibility of CRIS. Why are they running away from it??
