TIME TO INSPECT THE SUCCESS OF DURANTO TRAINS
With change in the Government, may I request the new Government and Ministry of Railway to judge the Success of Duranto Trains. I believe converting Duranto into Sampark Kranti or Rajdhani or Equivalent Class is more beneficial for the Indian Railway as well as for Passengers.
Readers must note that, India has
...
very limited network of Railway lines compared to Germany and other Developed Countries , and many lines STILL NOT ELECTRIFIED. The average number of Passengers dependent per Line in India is very high.
Whereas, Duranto Trains pass through this Railway Network, THEY MAKE NO BENEFIT TO INTERMEDIATE STATIONS. E.g., Delhi-Bangalore Duranto passes via imp. cities like Hyderabad, Nagpur, Itarasi, Bhopal, Jhansi, Mathura. STILL THESE INTERMEDIATE STATIONS HAVE NO BENEFIT FROM THIS TRAIN.
Whereas, we have to halt all other Trains, to provide a way for the Super fast Duranto Express.
Whereas, time-conscious Corporate Class, very often prefers Filghts over Duranto Trains, I really doubt, if these Trains really run into Profit.
Hence, I believe, Indian Railway should inspect whether Duranto Trains are really successful and Beneficial for our Nation. I have always admired the Ideas of Garib-Rath and Sampark Kranti Express, which I believe are more beneficial.
If readers agree with me, please do send letter/mail to Ministry of railway. If you disagree, please do reply to my post.

it makes sense on paper. however non-stop trains, especially ones with SL coaches like this one have a huge benefit.
SL coaches have become the new age general coaches in almost all long distance trains that have stops. so, there is a huge requirement for long distance travellers to have a cheap option to travel comfortably.
and currently, the only way to achieve this is to have a non-stop train. i completely agree with your requiest wrt AC durontos but not for this one

Agree, GR was a good concept. Otherwise RB can initiate converting some Durantos into LHB SF AC express, With halts only at important stns (where Durantos stop as technical stop)

I am surprised by the fact that although the 190 Km Line between Pune Junction & Mumbai is Electrified, still Diesel Locomotives are used for almost all trains on this line excluding Pune-Mumbai Trains. Particularly southern Hyd-Chennai-Bangalore bound trains always run on Diesels Locos throughout the route on Central Division.
Why is it so? Is it because Central Railway has shortage of electric Locos? Or is it because India has abundance of Diesel? Or is this Negligence of Railway?
Ideally there should have been Electric Locos.
I

the lines beyond Pune are non electrified and it would be waste to just run an electric loco for 200 kms and halt it there... further these train come with diesel locos that do not belong to CR...hence CR would obviously not keep them at CST..hence they are sent back with these trains.....but it also depends on loco availability..

I am writing here about my experience of Cheating in the Autos of Bangalore.
Last Month, I was coming from Tirupathi and I had to catch this Janashatabdi Train from Bangalore City Junction very early in the morning. Unfortunately the APSRTC Bus was Only upto Shanthinagar Bus Stand. Being unaware of Buses, we decided to go by Auto at around 4.30 AM. The Auto driver said he will charge double-of-meter Reading. Trusting the Meter we agreed him.
While the Google maps show the Distance between Shanthinagar BS and Bangalore City as 5.1
...
Km, the Meter showed around 8.5KM. While the Meter reading was 92 rupees, the Autodriver charged Rs.220/- saying the Meter reading was as per Old Charges and new charges are as per the Chart which he showed us.
I believe that this is cheating. Cheating in Autos of Bangalore and Chennai was very often heard by me and this time experienced the same.
If there had been Buses, I wished I could go by them rather than spending so much on the Autos.
Writing just to create awareness among the Readers.

Thoguh based on old meter and new meter charges+ the new rates revision the fare is correct the distance mentioend can not be 8.5 kms- theres definitely a sort of round about- Shantinagar to majestic will be just around 6 kms and cant be higher
there are lot sof long distant buses that run via shantinagar which reach majestic by 4AM in morning hours including E.City Volvo services on routes in range of 340 to 365

I have traveled on all 3 Suburban Lines of Mumbai Suburban, i.e. Central, Western and Harbor Line. From my Experience, western railway has achieved much more efficiency than Central Railway and offers at least better service than Central Railway.
Following are the points to be noted -
1] Local Trains on Western Line are Punctual as compared to Central Railway. On Central railway , in Pune Division, almost 70% Local Trains run Late EVERYDAY.
2]
...
Western Railway has been providing updated PDF Local Train Time Table on its Website for several years. Whereas Central Railway has not provided AT ALL and working very slowly in this regard.
3] Western Railway has successfully used its available Suburban Lines, whereas Central Railway has totally failed to effectively use the available Line . Here is how it is -
Western Railway has provided several additional Down Locals towards Virar from Andheri-Dadar & Borivali. And they run, when there is time-slot for Churchgate-Andheri, Churchgate-Bandra Locals, to make efficient use of the Railway Line. Hence Churchgate handles only 70% Burden of the Down Locals.
Whereas, On Central Railway 95% Down Locals start from Mumbai CST , and negligible locals from Dadar hence, When the Time Slot is for CST-Thane / CST-Kalyan Local, entire Track between Kalyan-Karjat-Khopoli / Kalyan-Kasara remains totally idle-unused. WHY ENTIRE BURDEN ON MUMBAI CST??? Actually it can effectively use it by providing additional Slow Locals between Thane-Karjat, Thane-Titwala etc. But Central Railway is very inactive. So hopes are rare.
4] Western Railway has now provided Churchgate - Dahanu Locals and also provides several shuttles upto Sanjan-Surat-Bharuch and Ahmedabad to benefit the Villagers. Whereas Central Railway has only 1 Passenger Train from Mumbai towards Pune-Solapur giving nil benefit to Villagers.
5] The Karjat-Panvel Route of Central Railway remains idle as only 2 trains run on it.
to be continued--------------

A layman when offered this bird eyes view will surely agree with you....
Here is why...

1. WR operates only on a 60 km long straight route with no crossings where CR operates across more than 200 route kms with several branching lines like Harbour, Transharbour, Karjat, Kasara etc and additionally Pune Lonavala EMU lines...
...

2. The no of rakes plying in WR is more than that of CR and hence the abundant services. In case of CR, the crossings, the ghats etc take a toll on its punctuality and with limited rakes, if one train service runs late, it has counter effects throughout the day...

3.Limited availability of rakes have affected the introduction of new services. However, the present rakes have been optimally used. Besides, all new rakes are first inducted into WRs fleet keeping WR at an advantage. The new age 72 Pure AC EMUs are proposed and majority of them will be inducted in WRs fleet.... WRs old age rakes will then make it into CR...

Dear Friends Mr. Iyer & Mr. Gabbar Sher,
As you've mentioned, same I am pointing out as to "WHY ENTIRE BURDEN OF 200 KM ROUTE ON MUMBAI CST???" Thane-Kalyan-Kurla should be made capable to handle partly the Burden on Central line. On Western Line Andheri-Dadar-Borivali do handle several trains towards Virar.
You have rightly pointed out the drawback, i.e., "LIMITED NUMBER OF RAKES." I believe availability of Rakes is Based on Feedback from Railway Officials. CENTRAL RAILWAY HAS EQUALLY FAILED TO UPLOAD THE PDF TIME TABLE ON ITS WEBSITE, WHICH W.R.

PART - II
I do not know the exact criteria for electrification of Routes. But I admire that Western Railway is very largely electrified making it possible for Rajdhani Expresses to pass with 120KMPH speed. Whereas Central Railway is far from fully Electrified. Hence, trains connecting Mumbai to Bangalore-Chennai-Hyderabad still take average speed of 60KMPH only.
The electrification has certainly benefited the Western Railway , not only for Rajdhani Express, but also for trains on Mumbai-Ahmadabad Route.

Correct me if I am wrong, but I believe high-speed railway needs to be the Future of Indian Rail, and for that Purpose, maximum Divisions of Railway will have to complete Electrification.
Aren't Diesel Locomotives sensitive to cost of Diesel in International Market?

Pimpri Chinchwad should be given proper Representation in Railway Time Table.
I can't understand what's in the mind of Central Railway that it is constantly Centralizing the Crowd at Pune Junction.
Despite being a City of 18 lacs, Pimpri Chinchwad is not given Proper Representation in the time-tables of Central Railway. Can you imagine a City with 18 Lacs People having Halt for only 4 Trains, 2 at CHinchwad & 2 at Pimpri???

100% agree. In fact just lyk some other metros (eg Banglore, Kolkata, Jodhpur) pune needs more terminals. 6-platformed PUNE Jn is not at all sufficient. In fact this is the reason put forth often by rail officials for non commencement of new services from Pune. After every rail budget , Pune people goes unhappy as nothing is there for them. Rail officials starts giving answers lyk soon IR will develop new terminals at Hadapsar, Shivaji Nagar, Chinchwad ; but god knows what happens later.
If these terminals get developed den some load can be shifted and Pune (wid PCMC people) can expect some new services. Political leaders shud put some pressure on railway ministry and officials ; also state govt needs
