Brilliant chugging Alco skips Barkur with colourful LTT ERS AC Duronto Express!
As my 16523 YPR KAWR express being made to wait for more than 10 minutes at Barkur, in comes the chugging hunk from Kalyan with the colourful 12223 Mumbai LTT-Ernakulam AC Duronto Express. The train had a mix of Double Decker EOG, Rajdhani and Duronto LHB coaches.

12223 Mumbai LTT to Ernakulam Duronto lead by Kalyan WDM3D stops at Kumta on KR, it had arrived Kumta station exactly 1 minute after our Rajdhani had an unscheduled halt at Kumta.

Actually the train stops at many stations on the way, to give side to other trains. Now, if this train was given priority then it will reach the destination very early. In fact, in my earlier blog also I had mentioned about it. But somebody replied stating the destination station is jampacked as many trains orginate and depart during that time and hence trains have to be stopped at various stations etc. If this train (12223/4) is given only technical halts and also one or two halts in between, it will be the fastes train to reach ERS from Mumbai, say probably in 2o hrs or even less.
This is to bring to the attention of concerned officials that 'used' linen is provided to passengers on 12224 ERS-LTT AC Duronto Express ( as experienced by me on Jan 1st 2014). I had mentioned it in my review dated January 5 (Forum). I also got a reply stating the reasons for the same as the train arrives by 5 pm at ERS and leaves the same night at 21.30, there is no time for cleaning and providing fresh linen.
I understood the logistics. But, if the train is given fewer halts (other than the technical halts) for other trains to pass by, then it can reach ERS before 4.30. Moreover, the train can also carry fresh linen from Mumbai for...

I happen to travel on the 12223 LTT-ERS Duronto AC Super fast express in A2 Coach (last week of December 2013) and found it to be a really super fast train. But, unfortunately, the railways don't want this train to be 'the super fast train'. My observation is that this train has few technical halts (which is necessary for crew change, filling water, refueling etc)) Apart from that, the train also halts at some small stations to give way for other trains. Now if these halts could be reduced and this train given importance to pass by over other trains on that route, this train can achieve its full run in less than 20 hrs (ERS destination). I experienced it myself. The train arrived at Shoranur at 2.55 p.m. and stopped for only a few seconds. Thus it could reach ERS in 1.5 hrs from Shoranur (it reached TCR by 3.25...

the 11.45 am arrival is of the 12202 KCVL LTT Garib rath express......the duronto exp timings havent changed since inception
The basic issue with the train that arrives on Sunday at ERS is that between 4.30 pm-6pm Ernakulam station is jampacked. There are 3 long distance trains that terminate and a few trains passing originating between 5pm-5.30 pm apart from 2-3 passenger trains originating . The platforms are always occupied and hardly any vacant pf is available. On Sundays it is mostly overtaken by SBC-ERS intercity express, Kozhikode -TVC janshatabdi and Patna-Ernakulam express. All these 3 trains arrive at Ernakulam between 5 and 5:15 and since the same Duronto leaves Ernakulam on the same night at 21:30 hence very little time for cleaning etc and also old linen is provided.
