A total of 33,384 passengers fly between Visakhapatnam and Bengaluru on an average every month. This puts Visakhapatnam among the top 10 cities in the country in the number of passengers flying from various cities to Bengaluru and back, according to a recent survey.
No wonder, a total of six flights are operating a day between Visakhapatnam and Bengaluru with IndiGo and Air Asia operating two flights each and SpiceJet and Air Costa one each. IndiGo is said to be planning a third flight between these two cities.

immense popularity of flights on this route is also an indication of the overwhelming demand for originating direct trains from Visakhapatnam to Bengaluru. But, the Bhubaneswar-headquartered East Coast Railway (ECoR) seems to be oblivious to the demand. The only originating weekly special train (02877) to Bengaluru has completed its last run but no announcement has been made on its extension so far.
On a representation submitted on behalf of an estimated 40,000 Telugus, living in Bengaluru, the South Western Railway (SWR) had operated a special train from Bengaluru to Visakhapatnam during Sankranti last year, which was an overwhelming success.
SWR wanted to continue the special train but ECoR said it would operate the special.
ECoR introduced 02877/78 Visakhapatnam-Krishnarajapuram-Visakhapatnam as a Tatkal special, which continued to draw tremendous patronage. During the last extension of the special train, ECoR had converted the train into a Suvidha Special train with dynamic fare, without increasing the speed. Despite these drawbacks and high fare, 02877 continued to have good patronage.
The 3{+r}{+d}AC fare during the peak season from Visakhapatnam to Bengaluru was around Rs.5,000 on this train making it more than twice the flight fare.
Information obtained by RTI activists reveals the bias of ECoR against Waltair Division, be it in the running of originating special trains, re-routing of long distance trains through Visakhapatnam Junction and provision of halts at the satellite stations.
New railway zone
An early announcement of a new railway zone with headquarters in Visakhapatnam is the only solution to end the woes of the people of the region, says East Coast Railway Shramik Union president Ch. Gandhi.

Those who know they do it. And evrywhere in the country this things happen.
IR cannot provide every city every person a dedicated train to his/her hometown or city. People still travel.
But i think VSKP is a fully developed and forwarded city where people think odisha is backward poor state (as per many VSKP based member had said this).

"poor" "backward" state should get dedicated trains as the odisha people don't know how to use internet or connecting trains but VSKP people are advanced , knowledgeable and richer than odisha, so they can afford flights and buses if not willing to travel in through trains.

why would a VSKP person prefer AC exp over this train , this train even though stops at 39 stations between VSKP and NDLS , it takes less time than half empty ac exp , also reaches at a comfortable timing at NDLS , for people to catch trains to SVDK and up north ...AC exp timings are not good , complete 2 days waste , best timings are for dakshin link with 2 nights , but only 1 day journey ...timings for AC exp is not good , while that of Samta and Dakshin are apt ...

I only see negativity in your post. If you are concerned about IR then you should have suggested/demanded a change in timing. Insted you are interested in scrapping of others trains. hats off.. such posts only make people of some regions fight between each other. Nothing good is going to happen with this.

i only see positivity in my post :D ...so nice to make this train weekly ....and make sc raj daily ...that would have been the best decision ...but political decisions have impacted IR here again ...with very less load between vskp and nzm , they have introduced daily train ...huh !!!

The whole of ECoR is formed/survives on money generated by VSKP. If you are talking about VSKP surviving on other states mines, then nobody requested them to use Vizag port. Since several decades Vizag port is serving the nation.

We already had trains like Swarna Jayanthi, which were not 24 coach trains and not to forget, with a better schedule. Its a bold move to snatch a train under ministerial whim from BZA, and lets see how good its patronage is. We had trains taking 32 hours and 34 hours in the likes of SJ and Samta. Now we are seeing an all time low, a fully air conditioned train taking freaking 36 hours. Honestly I do not know how people are feeling happy for this kind of service, when there is no demand at all for it to be extended to VSKP. This is how money is wasted.

may be people of Telangana and Maharastra could use this. I'm feeling happy for people of Peddapalli, Ramagundam, Sirpur Kaghaznagar for getting an AC train to New Delhi. The long pending demand of 12437/8 halt can finally come to an end.
My dear objectors, please mind that in the days where the AC Classes of existing trains are in a waiting lists which could be cleared with augmentation of 'one' extra coach, this full new AC Express is being flagged off. And for record purpose, we say IR is suffering from losses. I know this will get automatically closed with objections of VSKP activists, but I pity the narrow minds who object this 'just because they are from Vizag,' but all I do is hope that this train is utilized by people and hope that people who demanded this extension and the politicians behind this that they get some common sense of how to save money.

The login in comparing population is not syncing with my ideas. Lets suppose that both VSKP and BZA are having same demand. How could on earth be BZA > VSKP + BZA .
Lets say VSKP demand is less than BZA then one should be concerned if the train is run without touching BZA. But this not the case. How could you call it snatching. Rather it makes more sense when 6 districts people can use this facility. The day when BZA needs a full quota, AP Rajadhani can be started.
