Horror Story of having same name for two trains:
I was in Mangalore Madgaon Passenger which was halted in the ourskirts of Madgaon. Another train comes and halts near us. After 10 min, that train leaves towards Madgaon showing its name "Poorna Express". Then a passenger asked me is there any train to go to Mumbai after reaching Madgaon. I told you would have caught Poorna to go to Panvel and go to Mumbai. He was very upset, that I have not told this when the train was at halt.
Meanwhile another train
...
comes and halts and it is Kulem-Vosco Passenger. My "friend" was in two mind whether our or Vosco will get the priority to enter Madgaon. I told him Mangalore passenger is least priority as it occupies platform while Vasco will move on. But he stayed back. Alas, immediately Vasco moved along.
After another 10 to 15 minutes, our train moved in Madgaon PF 3 and we could see emptied Mumbai Madgaon Express going to siding from PF 1 and another halting in PF 2. Close by we could see PF2 train is Poorna express. I signaled him about Poorna express. Last time I saw, he was rushing through crowd to catch Poorna Express.
To my horror, while I was navigating through the nowhere-seen-narrow FOB, Poorna started towards Mangalore. Then I realize this is the train going through Miraj. I don't know "my friend" has boarded or not and also how many abuses he gave to me.
At least to my delight, the announcement came in "Madgaon Dadar Jan Shatabdi is delayed by 20 minutes".
So whose fault is this?
1. Indian Railways having same name for two different route trains.
2. Me, guiding a fellow passenger knowing only half of truth based on No 1's fault
3. Fellow passenger, who risked ticket-less traveling without knowing anything about trains solely believing No 2 thats me.

No 2 and 3, though No.1 also is responsible but on train board it's specifically written Poorna Exp via Panvel and both trains have different schedules..

There are two trains from Pune to Ernakulam . One is a weekly train which is 11097/98 POORNA EXP via Miraj Londa which runs on SAT and a biweekly SF 22150/49 via Panvel which runs on SUN and WED . but they both share the same rake so Pune division was finding it difficult to change the board often so they decided to name the SF as POORNA SF via Panvel . That is how u get to see to trains on tue at MAO . Weekly POORNA reaches Madgaon at 3pm on tue and the SF reaches Mao at 5 pm . SF is faster than the original POORNA EXP

From WL392 while booking to WL167 now within 2 weeks. But not much movement in last week! :(
Hoping to get cleared with extra coach.
Anybody has info: Is ticket booked as per normal coach seat quantity and get cleared on last minute with extra coaches even though extra coaches are announced by KR last week?

Though IRI is creating it from Chennai to Mumbai, I have created it for Coimbatore to Panvel, which I took just a few days back.
And I find the travel very hard mainly due to bad weather. If the travel is from June onwards, I hope the travel would be awesome thanks to North West Monsoon magic on Konkan belt.
Mangalore to Madgaon passenger was full to brim which I was not expecting and was shattered my plan to take some rest in usually empty passenger trains, especially such a long distance passenger.

And remember this passenger is least priority to enter MAO due to it occupies platform for very long time. At MAO outskirts it was kept waiting for half an hour pumping adrenalin to catch Jan Shatabdi. Anyway don't forget to munch tasty Medu vada at Mangalore Central catering hotel. I'm loving it!

imo, first ac is risky as quotas are more in that as a %age.
Check 2nd ac.
(but i don't have data about this train, just a general logic)

While I don't want to comment on this model or that model, "privatization" is not a "Harry Potter with magic wand". Realizing that is a good starting point for both public and governments :-)

Have you traveled in govt run Volvo bus in Karnataka called "Airavat"? If so, you will never board another private run bus.
Governments are not issue, "Governance" is.

Bus..Thats all you have folks for such a wonderful topic :-(
Basically "Absolute power corrupts absolutely" and the over-stretched "check and balance mechanism" in India are root for any such activities. There is no relation whether it is government or private.
IMO, privatization WILL come to railways coz even the basic rights like health and education are already privatized resulting in lower strata unable to get their rights. And this will tear down the railways.

The newly introduced Intercity SF comes out of the green bush and chugs away towards Barkur with a stunning looking Alco. This was captured on saturday and the train seems to be 70% filled, which is a very good sign.

Arrival history is very poor ranging from 30 min to 2 hrs delay. If it reaches on time, this will make 18404 chain train so popular for mangalore to mumbai via Dadar Janshatbdi

Yes true. The single track of KR region causes the delay as most of the times, the train is held up for crossings

I booked this from PNVL to SRR for 31st May on opening day via IRCTC and the booking was butter smooth. Checked the availability in the same evening which showed AVL for 3rd AC. May be it is because of holiday season ending. Anyone tried while peak days?
