blown up protesting against the visit of US President Barack Obama to India for attending the Republic Day parade. The Maoist unit is active in five districts - Rayagada, Ganjam, Gajapati, Kandhamal and Kalahandi of south Odisha.Director-general of police Sanjeev Marik said: "The first blast took place around 1.30am, followed by the second one a few minutes later. One of the railway employees was injured in the blast. However, the situation has improved. We are keeping a close vigil and sanitising the entire area."
The railway official said the train service on the line had resumed. Earlier, the train services had been diverted, and the Bhubaneswar-bound trains coming from Raipur and Vishakhapatnam halted at Rayagada. Following the blasts, the police, along with the central forces, have intensified the combing operation in the Maoist-hit Rayagada, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri districts.
In another development, the Maoists have asked the people to boycott the Republic Day celebrations and observe it as a Black Day.Posters have been found at Lanjigarh in Kalahandi district where the Vedanta's alumina refinery plant is located.
On the other hand, the state government has asked all the ministers to reach the district headquarters in the Maoist-affected areas, a day ahead of the Republic Day to hoist the national flag. Sources said the government was planning to send a few ministers to the Maoist-affected districts by choppers.
In Bhubaneswar, security has been intensified. Marik, who took stock of the security arrangements for the Republic Day on Monday, said: "The Special Operation Groups and the Rapid Action Force will be deployed at strategic locations from tomorrow onwards."
