Allahabad: A general coach of an election special train, carrying para-military forces from Maharashtra to Nagaland, caught fire near Cheoki railway station in trans-Yamuna area here Saturday, a senior official said. Nobody was injured in the incident. However one CRPF personnel sustained minor burn injuries.
The train was stopped immediately and the fire was doused by CRPF personnel with the help of villagers after half-an-hour of struggle.
According to the Chief Public Relations Officer of the North Central Railway, the incident occurred around 9 am when the train had left the Link Road Junction and was about to reach Cheoki station, close to Naini railway station. The fire was spotted in a general coach, located at 12th position from the engine.
