Current Ticket means Ticket booked after Charting but prior to departure of train. Current booking closes 15 minutes prior to departure.

So, It can be concluded from ur statement that, Current ticket may be issued only if there exists any vacancy !!
In contrast , as it appeared in local news-paper, more than 50, 000 ppl/day travelled on current ticket in last five days (1st to 5 th november) from Surat railway station, because of huge waiting lists.
So, what is the actual scenario ??

logically reserved tickets can only be issued if vacant berths are available.

Is current tckt like regular reserved tickets, i.e., with coach no, seat number, train name, DOJ ???
