Its Request Waiting List.
This happens when starting & destination falls under different Pooled or Remote Quota.
eg. Pune-NDLS, If ticket is booked from Daund to Itarsi & its under waiting, it will come under RQWL, as DD & ET are into different pool.
Priority-wise, it gets clearance @ last.

RQWL is Remote Quota Waitling List not Request Quota Waitlist !!! You have been wrongly informed. This is used for intermediate stations on the train route...
PQWL is pooled quota waitlist which is quotas of nearby stations pooled together to form this list, that is smaller stations having small quotas, one/two/three each are pooled together to form this waitlist.
The difference is RLWL is generally for 'major' stations having their own quota, and where people generally detrain and entrain on a regular basis. This is a SIMPLE EXPLANATION, NOT A TEHNICAL

Your explanation of Pooled Quota is completely wrong, even after so many discussions in this forum. Pooled Quota is end to end quota, does not belong to any intermediate stations.

Sometimes, the system is defined in such a way, that for some quotas, passengers are put directly under RQWL. When the charting is done and if the system detects that some berths are vacant for this segment, the system confirms such RQWL passengers. PQWL is a different WL.

RQWL is not Remote Quota Waitling List, Remote Quota WL is denoted as RLWL. RQWL does not stand for Request Quota WL, its just Request WL ('RQ' there is for Request).

Pune-MMR, Jalgaon-Bhusawal-Itarsi, Bhopal-Gwalior, AGC-NDLS.
Presume these to be different Pooled Quotas for NZM-NDLS Express.
Now if someone is having Waiting say in between Khandwa-Jhansi, which pool it falls under, coz both fall under different pool.
Its

U better read some explanations to get to knw about PQWL.
RLWL & PQWL are nearby same, only used by different zones in IR.
In PQWL small nearby stations are pooled up with big station having more quota (DD, Ahmednagar, Kopergaon MMR with Pune), while in RLWL, small in between station are provided their own quota (BSB, SLN, JAUNPUR, MUSAFIRKHANA, NIHALGAH, LKO having differet Quota for Shramjeevi Express)
But
...
yes, both are applicable only when are mixed from Intermediate pool to destination pool, like BSL-NDLS, not BSL-Jhansi, if the train is NZM-NDLS EXP.
Waiting Ticket in two intermediate pool or remote are granted Request Assessment.
Just yesterday, one PNR Analysis showed me, Godan Waiting - LTT-ALD under PQWL. Now, ALD isnt end station, but Pooled along with GKP or Chappra.

U arnt discussing, just u have one lame excuse end-to-end, without logic.
U dont have any reply, even when u have been provided with live examples!!!!
Train from LTT-GKP, is issued PQWL between LTT & ALD, itself shows the pool falls in between station not end-to-end!!!
(If WL would have been in between LTT-MAU, then it certainly have been fallen under GNWL not PQWL
...
category, as Mau falls under destination pool of GKP & LTT itself is the start-up pool)
Same goes with NZM-ERS, which isnt end-to-end either.
(If it would have been in between NZM-Trivendrum, it would have been RNWL not PQWL)
Its just eccentric to believe in orthodox knowledge of urs, when logically u have been proved wrong!!!
Seems u need to rush station, train & join Railway for better understanding!!!
U dont worry Mr. MST, i will give u immence examples from the PNR Analysis section, proving logic.

Below is the FAQ from IRFCA Blog
www.irfca.org/faq/faq-travel.html
A Pooled Quota Waiting List ('PQWL') is shared by several small stations in a particular region. E.g., Tiruppur, Salem, etc., share in the quota and wait list for some trains originating from Trivandrum or Mangalore. As another example, the 2723 Andhra Pradesh Exp. has three quotas, for Secunderabad -
...
New Delhi, Secunderabad - nagpur, and Secunderabad - Bhopal. There is also a pooled quota for passengers travelling from Secunderabad to stations beyond Bhopal but short of Jhansi. If this quota is exhausted, a passenger is placed in the pooled quota waiting list. Pooled Quotas normally operate only from the originating station of a route, and there is only one Pooled Quota for the entire run. The Pooled Quota is intended to be utilized by passengers travelling from the originating station to a station short of the terminating station, or from an intermediate station to the terminating station, or between two intermediate stations. Such remote location quotas are also provided when there is a very strong demand for the train in question, because of which, without such additional quotas, all seats or berths might be fully consumed by passengers from the originating station leaving nothing available for those wishing to travel from intermediate points. Vacant Pooled Quota berths are automatically tapped by the PRS for booking end-to-end passengers. Passengers in the Pooled Quota Waiting List are cleared against the vacancies in the earmarked Pooled Quota only, or against General Quota vacancies available at the time of charting.

Anyways, good that we have one more evidence that PQ is end to end quota, used by multiple intermediate stations. Check blog 28909 for a detailed operation of PQ.

As for PQ, you still have not got the point: First it is from originating to short of destination, and NOT end to end. Please read it again. it is for beginning to intermediate, and intermediate to end or intermediate to intermediate, and also quotas for smaller stations are "POOLED" together as stated therein! If the system uses the vacant PQ berths to provide end to end accomodation, does this not mean PQ is end to end? As you know (the same IRFCA site), that a ticket cannot span across 2 quotas in 2 legs of the journey and give a confirmed berth to passenger. If a confirmed berth has to be given to a passenger, it has to be from "one single quota only in which the passenger fits in as per his source-destination of journey". So now you yourself have said that end to end accomodations are provided from PQ.

No Sir, if the Vacant Pooled Quota berths are allotted to end to end passengers it does not mean it is end to end quota. End to end quota is General, assocaited with it's unique allocation such as Ladies, LB, etc. Only Vacant berths in Pooled Quota are given to end to end passengers at the time of charting, once the PQWL is exhausted.. i.e. if PQWL is cleared at the PQWL list SIR.
I think I have had enough of this discussion.

The key word Mr MST is "VACANT BERTHS" If there are no Vacant berths???? Read the whole para fully and then draw your conclusions.. and don't take sentences out of context PLEASE ! That twists the meaning, even here the key word is "VACANT" that does not mean it is end to end quota. To give you an example, if TATKAL quota is going vacant, it will be alloted to GNWL. Does that mean TATKAL is also GNWL quota? NO sir, No. Or if GN Class is vacant, and Tatkal is full and waitlisted, it could be given from the GN vacancy, but that would not take away the TATKAL feature would it. The passenger would still have paid for TATKAL. It's a question of adjustment of seats and quotas. OR if TATKAL is completely vacant, then GNWL will be accommodated... it will NOT be left empty right ? ...

In general, the vacant berth from a pool quota (say X) are first utilized to clear WL of that pool (mean X not Y) & if still berth are empty, system automatically transfer the berth into GNWL & if still unutilized then to other Quota, thats y GN Quota enjoys supremacy!!!!!!
Again, single quota enroute means, a passenger will be entitled to one quota per ticket and different quotas cant be mixed on a single ticket (if Ticket is in waiting & different quota mix can make the seat confirm between different combination of stations)

if vacant berth needs to be alloted to GN end to end passengers, does that not mean that the vacant berth has to span across the length of the journey? Else how is this possible.
1- Do read post 28909 and get complete understanding of how PQ is operated by IR.
2- Go to the nearest railway station and just check some charts pasted on railway trains. You will see that PQ is indicated end-to-end. Other RS and RL quotas are indicated "PUNE\" or "\PUNE".

Now, here is what is the source of info:
1- Whenever I travel by trains, I make it a point to check the reservation charts pasted on trains (not just my train, but also train stopping on opposite platform). It gives you a good idea as to how quotas are organized in trains.
2- There was a website hosted by IR railways (irsuggestions.org) in which even the railway officials used to participate. They have themselves given this information.
3- I
...
am a member of IRFCA.
4- I also keep on querying the reservation website, to get more information.
5- Plenty of PNRs on this website prove that this quota spans across starting station of the train till ending station.
And the reason that I am writing here is not to convince you, that’s not my intention. There are thousand other users of this blog site who need information, and I want to make sure that they don’t get it wrongly. It is for their benefit that I am explaining the reservation system of Indian Railways. Note that you find documentation of this anywhere in any website or books of Indian Railways.
.
So finally, PQ is end to end quota, defined to restrict some source-destination combinations to only this quota, thereby benefiting the end to end travelers. It is configured differently in different trains. For more info on PQ, refer blog number 28909.

Well, gud query!!!!!
As earlier example of mine about Godan Express, where PQWL was from LTT to ALD!!!
Now if that pool is having berth post its own PQWL clearance, the Pool will be shifted to clear on the GNWL, i.e. LTT-GKP or LTT-GKP(pool).
Its easier to allocate LTT-ALD quota to LTT-AMH OR LTT-GKP waiting, as the train is largely vacant in between LTT-GKP

Quota.
Same logic goes everywhere for PQWL transfer into GNWL.
Now u say, two quota on same ticket, simply its utilization of one full quota against other quotar

I didnt really get what you wanted to say, but from what info you have provided, I can analyze, conclude and summarize as below (I am applying my analysis also) for Godan Exp:

Tickets from LTT to ALD given from PQ + GN in this order. If no berths vacant, then passenger is placed under PQWL.

from LTT to GKP given from GN + PQ in this order. If no berths vacant, then passenger is placed in GNWL.

It can happen at charting that GN quota has berths vacant. In this case the system starts to clear passengers under PQWL as well.

You can clearly see that PQWL starts when GN finishes, and when PQWL is fulfilled, and seats are still available from PQ, they are given to GNWL passengers. Do take into account the TIME FACTOR of booking/confirmation.

OK, Mr Murali, let me do some corrections for you:
.
Improper statement 1: "that PQWL starts when GN finishes"
Correction 1 : PQWL starts only when PQ finishes, in some trains, and when both GN and PQ finish in other train. It is not dependent on only GN quota.
.
...

Improper statement 2: "Do take into account the TIME FACTOR of booking/confirmation."
Correction 2 : <No correction - irrelevant statement in this context>
.
Improper statement 3 : "and when PQWL is fulfilled, and seats are still available from PQ, they are given to GNWL passengers"
Explanation 3 : This can never happen, because GNWL is charted first and then only PQWL is charted. So there is no question of vacant seats of PQ being alloted to GNWL passengers at charting, as this is invalid scenario.
.
Improper statement 4: "Note in this PNR that the passengers have been accommodated in different coaches ! Why because PQ has specific berths in the trains."
Correction 4 : <No correction - irrelevant statement in this context>
.
Please visit Blog 28909 to understand:
- how WL begins
- how is PQ used.
There are other blogs which clarify how charting is done.

If PQ would have been end-to-end, then other WL would have been into PQ Quota not GN quota, as clearly indicated in ur info!!!
Simply here seems PQ has been exhausted.
And again, this ranikhet is having single pool from NDLS-Kathgodam, cz of small route.

1. PQ exhausts PQWL of the same PQ Quota (X for X not Y), primarily
2. After allocation of PQ, RL, RS in their respective Quota, if berth remains vacant, system automatically prioritize it for GNWL before any other quota.
3. If after GNWL clearance, berth remain vacant, its allocated to other Quota, according to system.
4. If PQ Quota has been allocated to
...

start-end journey, that simply means two or more in-between-route PQ has been exhausted to make full route clearance, provided the PQ has cleared WL in their respective Quotas & sill vacant berth is available.
eg. NDLS-PATNA via CNB.
NDLS-PATNA WL1 GN
NDLS-MIRZAPUR AVL PQ
MIRZAPUR-PATNA AVL PQ
Now when this ticket will be cleared throuh these Quota, it will be on PQ Quota not GN
5. Berth for NDLS Mirzapur PQ (S4-21) & Mirzapur PNBE (S4-21) PQ can easily be same, as the seat getting empty from last pool is been assigned to the very next pool!!!!!! And thats why, Coach no can be different while Berth No mayb not synchronized when compared to GNWL clearance in the same PNR!!!.
6. RAC is Reservation Against Cancellation & so when PQ Quota cancellation would have occured, it was alloted to clear RAC under GN Quota in the Ranikhet Example of urs....Y a hue n cry on it??????

Incorrect Statement : 1. PQ exhausts PQWL of the same PQ Quota (X for X not Y), primarily
Correct Statement : There is no X and Y for PQ, one train has only 1 single PQ that runs from starting station to ending station. Go to the train and check this on the reservation chart.
.
Incorrect
...
Statement : 2. After allocation of PQ, RL, RS in their respective Quota, if berth remains vacant, system automatically prioritize it for GNWL before any other quota.
Correct Statement : This statement is itself not correct grammatically, no one can make sense what is being talked here.
.
Incorrect Statement 3 : If PQ Quota has been allocated to start-end journey, that simply means two or more in-between-route PQ has been exhausted to make full route clearance, provided the PQ has cleared WL in their respective Quotas & sill vacant berth is available.
Correct Statement : There are no 2 or more PQ in a train, there is one single PQ that runs from end to end. Go to the train and check this personally. Ask some TTE in the train.
.
Incorrect Statement 4 : Berth for NDLS Mirzapur PQ (S4-21) & Mirzapur PNBE (S4-21) PQ can easily be same, as the seat getting empty from last pool is been assigned to the very next pool!!!!!!
Correct Statement : There is no first and last pool, there is no Mirzapur pool. PQ is end to end quota, one single. Just scan some reservation charts at a junction near you and verify. Now since PQ is end to end, obviously any station to any station passenger can “fit” into that quota.
.
My simple question to you is did you understand what PQ is or are you still struggling to get the basic concept? If not just go through blog 28909 and get more inputs.
.
Whatever you have said in the end that if someone from PQ cancels his ticket, the GNRAC improves is correct in certain scenarios. I have already highlighted those scenarios in my blog 28909. But thats not always. If you say that always GNRAC advances, then PQWL will never move.

It is ever seen from an intermediate station to another intermediate station or Destination AND from the Originating Station to an intermediate station ONLY. Exclusion is just "from Origin to Destination" i.e. "End to End".

I never said PQWL is end to end. I said PQ is end to end. Read all my postings, and this is what I have been consistently saying.
.
PQ is used to allocate passengers configured for some source-destination pairs, which may not be eligible for GN quota. But PQ can also be used to allocate end to end passengers. The Ranikhet example I gave contained a passenger allocated on (obviously end to end PQ), but the passenger 2 onwards were placed on GNWL, not PQWL.
.
...

Where did you read that PQWL is end to end? Its not. Its the quota which is end to end, but the WL for the quota is maintained for intermediate passengers, who do not quality for GN quota.
.
Else answer a simple question. We have seen PQ used to allocate the following:
- starting station to intermediate
- intermediate station to intermediate
- intermediate station to end station
- starting station to end station
So what does this indicate. This indicates PQ is end to end (not the WL).
.
Anyways, rather than making me write so much, why dont ppl visit the nearest railway station and check the charts?

Pls visit the nearest railway station, check some reservation charts there, check charts put up on trains, ask the TTE abt PQ. You get to know that PQ is end to end (I am not talking of PQWL, I am talking of quota itself. End to end passengers are placed under GNWL). Following is a guideline how to check the passenger charts pasted on the train coach near the door:
1- Quotas are indicated by “GN” or “PQ”.
2- If a quota is defined only till a particular station, it appears as “StationCode/”, e.g.”PUNE/” (This is called RS quota).
3- If
...
a quota is defined from intermediate station, it appears as “/StationCode”, e.g. “/PUNE” (This is called RL quota).
4- If nothing appears like in point 2 and 3 above, this means it’s a end to end quota.
.
Following is a guideline how to check the WL charts put up on reservation boards:
1- Check how many PQWL are there.
.
Following is what you need to check and analyze:
1- Check charts pasted on coach. See if a berth marked as “PQ” carries something like “StationCode/” or “/StationCode”. If not it does not end at intermediate station or does not start from an intermediate station, it means its from start to end.
2- Check which all passengers are marked against PQ. If someone bears an end to end ticket (or starting from 1sr RS section till last RL section), this means its from start to end.
3- If there is only 1 PQWL, this means, there is only one PQ. If there were multiple, there would have been many passengers having PQWL 1 as status, and utter chaos and confusion as to who is the real WL 1 passenger. Another thing to observe is that PQWL will never contain end to end passengers.

5. & again, how many stations u have checked charts & can u define them by zones??????? Although i havnt done it either!!!!!!! But dnt think other blogger's remark stupid or IRFCA a joke, like u!!!
6. PQWL mostly prevail in CR or Southern Zone, while its not accustomed mostly in NR, where u find RLWL not PQWL to sign off Starting/Destination - intermediate Station Booking.
7. In fact, i never have seen any example of co-existance of PQ and RL/RS Quota!!!! Mayb my knowledge is limited in this concern, but i m ready to learn and accept man!!!!!
8. I started discussing u & frankly gained alot about other things, apart from triggered belief on my logic, as most re-owned bloggers as Murli ji & Jain ji are contradicting ur views!!!!!
9. I dont mind u complimenting my fantassies, but here many r there to mind these words for Mr. Jain & Mr. Murli, including me & hopefully they shouldnt be the computer lunatics like me!!!!!!
10. I respect ur research, but it shows how much doubt u have on ur thesis & how desperate u r to prove ur truth!!!!!
11. I dont doubt ur knowledge, but u arnt the limit either!!!!!

Many incorrect statements in your post, which I am correcting here.
.
If I dont explain RQWL, does not mean that I dont know what is PQWL. I agree that there is a basic deviation, but we still need to discuss what is PQ and what is PQWL, cause many fans do not know this.
.
...

I dont know what is shameless replacing of PQ with RS and RL. But i know a fact that many trains carry PQ, GN, RS and RL - all together. Simplest thing is go and check the reservation chart pasted on coaches, especially in AC3T and AC2T, they will all be co-existing in the same coach.
.
I again say, PQWL is being maintained for "system configured" (this term is important) "certain source-destination passengers" for a Pooled Quota, which is end to end. Why end to end? because it is configured to accommodate passengers of starting as well as ending stations. However, start to end passengers are also eligible for GN quota, and hence if berths is not available for them, they are placed under GNWL.
.
PQ is not zonal, its a term followed all across IR, because the reservation system is same across IR, including NR.
.
I may respect Murli ji & Jain ji, but does not mean they know the correct knowledge. They may also know the wrong knowledge. I never said, I am the limit of knowledge, whatever I know I am posting here and correcting also.

Posting the 100th+ comment on this blog, let me tell you that there have been instances where some bloggers were posting wrong info and also were adamant on this. I had to pitch in there as well and correct them. Some of them were:
1- DQ does not have unreserved coaches. Now I travel by this train, where as ppl just sit and home and write abt this train.
2-
...
RSWL and RLWL are not interchangeable. I had to explain with big write ups that they are different.
3- WL 321 will not get confirmed from NDLS to GWL in GT exp. I explained them why it would get confirmed, and it got confirmed also at charting.
4- WL 20 from BPL to AGC/NDLS will not confirm in AC3T in 2627. Now I had to explain them how the charting is done, and how it gets confirmed.
.
If you see, I never interfere in knowledge area where I dont know. But i cant accept that ppl sitting at home and knowing nothing, try to put facts. Without seeing a Deccan Queen, ppl are saying that it does not have General coaches. People dont know what is charting, forget that, they dont know the basics of quota, and they are giving wrong predictions, where I can assure that the ticket will confirm.

So atleast after copying and pasting so many PNRs, did you understand that the system is configured to put some source destination pairs under PQ? Or still need more explanation? I dont know whether the PNRs were put here to contradict my point or promote my point.

.
Mr Kapadia, what you have written "There is no fixed transparent logic/system being followed in Railway Reservation system" is not correct. Every train is configured with a logic of allotment, just that the logic varies from train to train. But you go across any train, the following fact remains the same : "PQ is one single defined quota from end to end".
.
Note
...
that the meaning of GN, PQ, RS, RS, GNWL, RSWL, RLWL, PQWL, RLGN remain the same for all trains in India. Which source-destination berth is alloted from which all quotas (1 or more), and the WL is maintained under which WL quota is configured differently for each train. The meaning is consistent across all trains.
.
You can throw 1000 PNRs, and I can prove to you that the meaning of the quota or WL never changes. Ready for the challenge?
.
So Lets start:
GN = General quota = quota defined from start station of the train to end station of the train (only 1 per train)
PQ = Pooled quota = quota defined from start station of the train to end station of the train (only 1 per train)
RS = Road Side quota = quota defined from start station of the train to intermediate station of the train (1 or more)
RL = Remote Location quota = quota defined from intermediate station of the train to last station of the train (1 or more)
GNWL = waiting list for GN quota
PQWL = waiting list for PQ
RSWL = waiting list for RS quota
RLWL = waiting list for RL quota
RLGN = waiting list combined GN and all RL quotas.
.
So throw as many PNRs as possible. It can be proved that the above meaning applies to all the PNRs, without a single Exception.
.
Also keep in mind that a source-destination ticket may be eligible for more than 1 quotas. Also note that RS, RL and PQ can co-exist in a train. Also note that all trains may not have all the quotas. Its is a system configuration.
.
So lets

(1) Identify quotas
(2) Identify berth allotment logic

What do you want me to show for PQ?
I have shown PNRs which show the following (Just go to PNR tab and you will find all these examples):
- start station to intermediate station
-
...
intermediate station to end station
- start station to end station (I have pasted this for Ranikhet exp)
After showing this, it means PQ is "UNION" of all the above 3 requirements, i.e. start station to end station. After showing, what else do you want me to show?
.
I hope you know the algebraic term called "UNION" (If you dont know just google for it).

Replies arnt to contradict ur point, but promote general point which i follow!!!!!
1. examples quoted shws source - in between - destination stations consistently ranked under PQWL, while u have the faith of PQ as end to end then how come PQ are considered for Starting/Destination to n-between station!!
I have given all examples of Startng/Destination in-between station, so dont play with words, which u r trying to do consistently.
2.
...
Chart hasnt prepared then how come GN & RL get the same footage?????
3. Same case for the example of RLWL from source to destination configuration, but still RL doesnt hold end to end!!!!
3. If RL or PQ quota are been utilised for Source to Destination WL clearance, by no mean they can be validated as source-to-end Quota!!!
4. U cited Bangalore & JBP as in PQ, contrdicting ur self view of PQ as end to end!!!& repeated the same for multiple examples quoted by me.
5. I apprecirate ur responces, but repeatedly u validated against ur PQ definition.
6. In India, People think General coach as the one with ply seat!!!!
DQ has 2S arrangement for Unreserved coach too, so quite possible people getting confused.
