South Central Railway has geared itself up and its machinery is on high alert in view of the cyclone Vardah. A help desk has been set up, said a press release.
In all, 15 Express trains were cancelled on Monday and No. 12604 Hyderabad-Chennai Express of Tuesday was cancelled, Sixteen more Express trains were diverted.
General Manager Vashista Johri is constantly monitoring the situation, assisted by Additional GM A.K. Gupta. A 24/7 Disaster Control Room has been set up at the Rail Nilayam here.

The trains that were partially cancelled or diverted. No. 12711 Vijayawada-Chennai Express was partially cancelled between Gudur and Chennai on Monday, as were No. 12712 Chennai-Vijayawada, while No. 77030 Nellore-Sullurupeta MEMU and No. 66026 Sullurupeta-Chennai MEMU were cancelled for the day.
Train No. 12269 Chennai Central-Hazrat Nizamuddin Duronto Express and No. 12687 Madurai-Dehradun Superfast Express, No. 16032 Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Katra-Chennai Central Andaman Express, No. 22859 Puri-Chennai Central Weekly Superfast Express and No. 12655 Ahmedabad-Chennai Central Navjeevan Express were diverted.
