Peak hour travel rush and the long wait of commuters to board slow trains at Diva station could change from Monday , with12 CST-bound fast trains halting there on Sunday .
Commuters from Diva held a grand ceremony on the newly-constructed platform as Shiv Sena MP Dr Shirkant Shinde flagged off a fast train at 6.55am on Sunday . The commuters from the bustling working class township had turned violent in January 2015, to voice their grievances against Central Railway's neglect to their long-pending demands for improved and timely frequency and halting of fast locals at Diva.

suburban trains are the only lifeline for lakhs of commuters travelling to Thane, Navi Mumbai or Mumbai as the municipal bus transport services are still inadequate.
Shinde had pursued the issue of halting fast trains with the CR authorities, who agreed to halt 24 fast services at Diva.
Officials said it was a tedious process aligning tracks over the last few months to enable the halts. “We hope there are no more flare-ups at Diva as the 24 fast trains will ease congestion, especially during peak hours,“ asenior CR official said.
A regular commuter, however, said a fast train halt at Diva would not solve the problem as all CST-bound fast trains, assigned for Diva halts, originate from Kalyan. The problem could be similar in the Down direction when commuters from Thane will find it difficult to board trains as Diva-bound passengers could be standing near the doorway , they said.
A senior railway official said the only major solution would be having trains originating from Diva.
