Even in the existing stretch at least till calicut, there seems to be not much of difference in the time of trains despite electrification.
The benefit will only come if there is some speed up and running time reduction in this stretch and also introduction of MEMU services to benefit local passengers.

Practically speed is dependent on the track conditions (esp. Max Permissible Speed & speed restrictions) and electrification has little impact on speed (except suburban trains). However Journalists never miss opportunity to report that the speed of trains shall appreciably increase after electrification.
