Ludhiana : Railway authorities have proposed to close all unmanned level crossings in the district. They have urged the district administration to close four unmanned level crossings- C-8, C-18, C-20 and C-23-and construct diversion roads as these could prove fatal.Talking to The Tribune, the railway authorities said they met the officials of the district administration in this regard yesterday. The administration has constituted committees comprising officials to check whether the proposal forwarded by the Railways was viable or not. We have submitted that these unmanned level crossings be closed to avoid fatal accidents, but it depends on the officials of the district administration to see whether our submission is viable or not. They will submit the report to the Deputy Commissioner within 15 days,” an official added.
