Almost a month after the short circuit in an underground wire caused the Kurla signalling panel fire, the Central Railways (CR) have issued a precautionary note to all departments to insulate all high-voltage underground cables spread across the suburban section. The administration has directed officials working on DC-AC conversion and electrical maintenance to ensure that the new cables being laid are insulated. Also, the old high-voltage wires are to be insulated while carrying out the interlocking work. “The cable network in the suburban section is huge.
