MUMBAI: An employee's out-of-the-box plan has ensured that Central Railway (CR) has maximum coaches at its disposal to run special services. The scheme, which was the brainchild of train inspector Sunil Joshi helped the railway administration earn Rs 54 crore between April 2011 and December 2011. Last month, Union railway minister Mukul Roy gave Joshi a gold medal. He has already received a silver medal in 1999-2000 and 2008-09. Joshi compiled a list of coaches, their travel plan and maintenance schedules. "We were able to run special services by ensuring availability of a maximum number of coaches," he said."I didn't want them to be idle, either a coach was undergoing maintenance checks or in service. In this way, we were able to earn maximum revenue," Joshi added.
