In an effort to spread awareness about the importance of cleanliness and hygiene among railway passengers, a ‘Cleanliness Campaign' was launched at the Salem Junction on Friday.Launching the campaign, Salem Divisional Railway Manager Sujatha Jayaraj said that passengers should assist the railways to keep the railway station premises and the coaches clean.She, along with Senior Divisional Commercial Manager D. Lakshmanan, Senior Divisional Medical Officer Mohan and a team of officials and staff from the division, distributed pamphlets seeking passengers' cooperation in keeping railway premises and compartments clean.The pamphlets asked the public not to spit or urinate in public places but use only the toilets and bathrooms provided.Authorities also urged the passengers to avoid use of toilets when the train was in the station and not to throw left over eatables in the coaches and on platforms.NSS students from the Thiagarajar Polytechnic participated in the campaign, carrying placards with slogans on...
