Shri Pankaj Dwivedi, Chief Secretary, Government of AP, opened the Red Ribbon Express, the mobile Exhibition Train, for public viewing at Bhoiguda side of Secunderabad Railway Station today (4thJune, 2012).Shri Rathna Kishore, Principal Secretary, Health & Family welfare, Govt. of AP, Shri Shyamal Rao, Project Director, AP AIDS Control Society, Shri Natarajan Gulzar, District Collector, Hyderabad District, Shri Sanjive Roy, Divisional Railway Manager, Secunderabad Division, South Central Railway, other officials form Government of AP, South Central RailwayandNational AIDS Control Society were present o­n the occasion.Shri Pankaj Dwivedi visited the exhibition coaches of Red Ribbon Express (RRE). While addressing the Media Personnel at the Conference Coach of the RRE, Shri Pankaj Diwedi said that many epidemics such as cholera, malaria had threatened the existence of human race o­n the earth in the past but were successfully contained with the help of advancement in the medical science. incurable HIV and AIDS is confronting and challenging us.The control of this killer disease mainly depends o­nprevention of its spread based o­n awareness and precautions, he added. He hoped that the 3rdphase of RRE will help spread awareness against HIV / AIDS in AP in order to eradicate the same in the near future, he added.
Shri Shyamala Rao, Project Director, AP AIDS Control Society , said that the prevalence of HIV / AIDS in AP had come down due to relentless fight against the same. TheCentral Blood Bank , Institute of Preventive Medicine, organized Blood Donation Camp in their mobile van. VariousGovernmentOrganisations and Non GovernmentalOrganisation s put up their stalls at the venue to educate the visitors o­n prevention and control of HIV / AIDS.
The entry to RRE is free of charge and RRE will be in Secuderabad tomorrow also before it leaves for Adilabad.
