In a daring incident, some miscreants murdered an Uttar Pradesh police constable in general bogey of Haridwar-Allahabad express at Bareilly railway station and injured five of his family members by assaulting them late on wednesday night, police said.Police said that tussle started at Hardwar over keeping of luggage in the bogey between the constable and some other people traveling in the same train which led to murder of the constable. Police registered a FIR into the matter. Police said the deceased constable Ramniranjan Singh, a resident of Karka Suvansa under Fattanpur police station in Pratapagarh district, was posted at Keeratpur police station in Bijnore district. His family lived in Shyampur area of Hardwar district. According to his family members, in course of loading the luggage, a suitcase inadvertently hit the face of a woman sitting in the same bogey.It enraged 10 persons accompanying the woman. They used unparliamentary language against them. They allegedly beat up Rakesh, who was loading the luggage. Moreover, GRP personnel intervened and pacified them. The train left and altercation continued between the two groups traveling in the same bogey of the train.When the train arrived at Moradabad, members of Singh’s family informed GRP about the altercation. The GRP cops pacified the two groups and train proceeded for further journey. The train stopped at platform number 1 at Bareilly junction at 9.30 pm. Sources said, the other group called around 15 more people to the station.They allegedly started beating the family members of Singh and dragged him from the seat. One of the miscreants attacked on the chest of Singh in which he sustained severe injury and fell on ground. When the train started, members of Singh’s family stopped it through chain pulling.Soon the GRP personnel reached the spot and rushed Ram Niranjan Singh to the hospital where doctors announced him brought dead. Daughter of Singh Renuka said that she heard gunshot when they dragged her father. Senior police officers visited the spot. Moreover, police registered a case against 15-20 unidentified miscreants following a complaint by Harendra Pratap Singh who also sustained injuries in the incident. Mangal, Ajay and other kin also sustain injuries.On Thursday morning, inspector general (GRP) AKD Dwivedi, Deputy inspector general (GRP) Hariram Sharma also carried out inspection. While police said that Singh was stabbed to death, post mortem report said that Singh died of bullet injuries.
