NAGPUR: The non-stop Nagpur-Mumbai Duronto Express, which turned a daily on Sunday from thrice a week, was received with great enthusiasm from passengers. Launched on November 21, 2009, Duronto reaches Mumbai in 11 hours and 30 minutes. As its timings are convenient, the train is most preferred by passengers.Due to non-availability of coaches, Duronto's frequency could not be increased from three days a week. This, despite the then railway minister Mamata Banerjee announcing in her budget speech in 2011 that Duronto's frequency would go up.But Sunday turned out to be a big day for passengers. It's a big achievement for Nagpur as at any given time the waiting list of passengers from Nagpur travelling to Mumbai is around 500.A daily Duronto would mean drop in wait-listed passengers. 15 hours to reach Mumbai.The trains have a capacity of 1000 berths. Now a fresh demand is being raised for a similar train between Nagpur and Delhi. A Nagpur-Delhi Duronto Express was promised by Mamata but instead Nagpur-Mumbai was started.
